A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary We provide a forever home for rescued farm animals who have been abandoned, seized by the S.P.C.A., or surrendered due to various circumstances.

We are a volunteer run, registered Charity organisation in Duncan BC, that offers a forever home for rescued farm animals who are abandoned, seized by the S.P.C.A., or surrendered due to various circumstances. Our Sanctuary was founded in September 2017 and we are the first and only Farm Sanctuary in Canada to be Accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. We currently care for near

ly 200 residents including pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, horses, donkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, peafowl, dogs, guinea pigs, and cats. We ensure all our animals are provided with the best quality care and a safe home where they are able to live out their natural lives. We aim to advance education by providing workshops, seminars, classes, and presentations on animal practices, rescue, and care. In early 2019 we began an adoption and foster program to place healthy and well-suited, non-farm animals in safe and loving homes. Our Sanctuary provides a forever home for farm animals who are older, are difficult to place, have diverse needs, have behavioural issues, or require long term medical intervention. Our volunteers help us with the everyday care of the animals, social media, graphic design, fundraising, newsletter writing, and event planning, and ensure the animals are well cared for and our organisation runs smoothly. We would also like to acknowledge that our Sanctuary is located within the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Quw'utsun Nation, near the traditional village of Ts'alha'um.

Animal Spotlight: Clover and his brother, Cedar, came into our care in July 2024 after their owner was unable to afford the cost of their care. Clover is full of energy, confident, and has a lot of personality. He was named Clover because his face is white like a clover flower.

He and his brother truly are two peas in a pod. They are very vocal and wheek any time a human friend walks by, especially if they know carrots and apple-banana cookies are in said human's hands! They also love to spend time outside grazing in the grass, and chewing on their hay houses.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude to share that our High Tea at the Sanctuary is officially SOLD OUT!

This means another objective accomplished for our animals at A Home For Hooves Farm Sanctuary!

Because of you, we are one step closer to completing important summer projects that directly improve the lives of our rescued residents, including:

💧 New waterers for chickens and turkeys
💧 Small pond pumps to keep water fresh, clean, and circulating
💧 Summer improvements to help vulnerable animals stay comfortable during the warmer months

One group that will benefit from these improvements is our Disabled Duck Crew. These special ducks face mobility challenges for a variety of reasons and live in a protected area designed to help them thrive, including a pond with a gentle access ramp.

Every season brings new needs for the animals who call A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary home.

As the days grow warmer, our animals, especially ducks, chickens, turkeys and geese need fresh, circulating water. They need reliable waterers to stay healthy and hydrated. The animals depend on us to prepare for the months ahead, and we depend on the kindness of our community to make those projects possible.

This Saturday's High Tea is more than an afternoon of tea, treats, and beautiful company.

For our chickens and turkeys, access to clean water is a necessity. During the summer months, rising temperatures can quickly lead to dehydration, heat stress, and serious health complications.

Waterers can be a lifeline because they provide a constant, reliable source of fresh drinking water throughout the day. As waterers age, they can crack, leak, become difficult to clean, or fail to provide enough water for the animals who depend on them. Replacing aging waterers helps ensure every bird has access to clean, safe water when they need it most.

A Message from Earl Grey!

If you've been following my adventures, you might know that life hasn't always been easy. After losing the only home I'd ever known, I arrived at A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary unsure of what the future would hold. My hooves were overgrown, I had never met another donkey, and I wasn't quite sure how to be part of a herd.

Thankfully, the humans here didn't give up on me. They gave me patience, kindness, new friends, and yes... even a few yoga balls along the way.

Today, I have a safe home, donkey companions, and people who love me just as I am... even when I'm being a little mischievous.

That is why I am inviting you to join and meet us "in person" at our High Tea on Saturday, June 27, 2026
