We at Diggin Dogz are taking all precautions alone with the deep clean and sanitation. If you’re going to any dog park please consider bringing your own bowl and a water bottle. I believe you can get collapsing bowls cheap possibly even the dollar store. Thanks everyone
Valued clients and community members:
Just like we can be exposed to germs and viruses when we choose to leave our home, or send our kids to school - so to can our dogs, wherever they may go.
This is why we vaccinate against the highest risks. However, some risk does remain.
I know for our family, the grocery store seems to be one place that always gets us 😅.
Being aware for this potential, we health screen all dogs who get dropped off for group services at the start of each day, every time they join us.
We take your (and our) pets health very seriously.
Last week a dog returned to an individual service after months away from our facility - having outgrown the program they previously attended.
I am proud to say that due to our rigorously high standards, and daily health checks, it was quickly identified that this dog was unfortunately showing symptoms of the Canine Papilloma Virus.
The pet parents were quickly notified, and as I knew that this dog had been in contact with another of our clients at a different facility, that owner was also notified. An at home check revealed that dog also showed symptoms of the virus, though much harder to see.
Tracing the possible exposures backwards, we have notified - and are working together with other providers. Together we have identified the dog park as a likely place of spread.
Noteably, the communal water dish available there is of a big concern, but contact with an affected dog can also result in exposure.
We are asking that to do as much as we can to prevent any unchecked spread in our community - and particularly to protect our client dogs - that all pet parents check their dog’s face, mouth, and paws for any signs of abnormal growths.
If your dog does show symptoms, please visit your vet about how to proceed.
Any dog showing symptoms should refrain from close contact with other dogs, sharing toys, or dishes.
Your dog can resume services with us once symptoms are no longer present and your dog has been cleared by a vet to be around other dogs.
🐾💕 We don’t wish to be alarmist. It’s no secret that we take risks every day when we leave our house.
We also don’t want to be complacent, and nonchalant with the health of our cherished clients, and will do what we can to be proactive.
We will continue our daily checks, paying extra special attention to the face and mouth.
Our personal dogs have been cleared and show no symptoms at this time.
We are proud to have identified this straight away, and are grateful for your help to do what we can, together.
Adult dogs with strong, healthy immune systems are unlikely to be affected.
Young, elderly, or immunocompromised dogs are most at risk for developing symptoms, which do often spontaneously go away on their own, In rare cases - the growths can be a nuisance.
