Meet Louis! A 7 year old Red Footed Tortoise🐢
Louis was rushed in to our clinic after a tragic incident-a rat managed to get into his enclosure and chew both front legs down to the bone.
As we are not specialized in exotics, we got his pain under control and wrapped his legs up ready to be brought to Guelph to get specialized care. After many hours, difficult conversations, and a long night-it was decided Louis would come back to us the following day to say goodbye.
With heavy hearts, Louis' family came in the next day, however we knew we had to fight for him...we had to try. We performed a double leg amputation, and he did fantastic.
Fast forward 2 months, Louis is THRIVING! His wonderful owners built him detachable wheels, and he has adapted so well. He is faster then ever and zooms all around the house.
He continues to come in for rechecks, ensuring his wounds are healing properly-and of course to get love and snuggles from staff.
We are so thankful to be apart of his journey getting to see him grow and live his best life.
Keep roll'in on Louis!🛞💚
