💙 Welcome to the Team! 💙

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation is pleased to welcome Amanda Kavanagh as our Summer Administrative Assistant!

Amanda will be joining us on June 29th and will be working alongside our team throughout the summer, assisting with fundraising initiatives, community events, administrative projects, and the reopening of The Legacy Gift Shop.

A Memorial University student and proud graduate of Marystown Central High School, Amanda brings a strong background in customer service, leadership, tutoring, volunteerism, and community involvement. Her dedication to academic excellence has earned her numerous awards and scholarships, including the Governor General’s Academic Medal and the Memorial 100 Scholarship.

Many may already recognize her from her previous role with the former BPHCC Ladies Auxiliary Gift Shop, making this a wonderful full-circle moment as we prepare to reopen The Legacy Gift Shop under Foundation ownership.

We are excited to have Amanda join our team this summer and look forward to introducing her to our donors, volunteers, patients, customers, and community members in the weeks ahead.

Please join us in giving her a warm welcome! 👏💙

🌞With spring in full bloom in late May, residents from Blue Crest Nursing Home enjoyed their first outing of the season, travelling to Marystown for lunch at Wing'n It and a shopping trip to Walmart. These simple outings provide opportunities for social connection, independence, and meaningful experiences beyond the walls of long-term care.

At the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation, we are proud to support recreation and quality-of-life initiatives for residents at both Blue Crest Nursing Home and U.S. Memorial Health Centre through our Seasons of Care program.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who have supported our recreation programs through donations and fundraising efforts. Your generosity helps make outings like this possible, while also supporting resident favourites such as Bingo, Summer Garden Parties, and our Diner's Club Socials, which bring restaurant-style takeout meals directly to residents who may not be able to get out and enjoy them on their own. 🥰

These moments may seem small, but they make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents, helping create joy, connection, and a sense of community.❤💙

Thank you for helping us enhance quality of life and create special memories for residents throughout our region. ❤

Every ticket purchased helps strengthen healthcare across the Burin Peninsula, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Congratulations again, Loretta, and thank you to everyone who played! 🍀

💙 In Memory of Dane Ducey 💙

Today, the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation received a thoughtful donation of $500 in memory of Dane Ducey, made by Iris Ducey and family in honour of his life and memory.

At the family's request, these funds will support the Chemotherapy Unit at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, helping to enhance care and comfort for local patients receiving cancer treatment close to home.

Memorial donations such as this are a meaningful way to celebrate the life of a loved one while supporting others in our community. We are grateful to Dane's family and friends for choosing to honour his memory through this gift.

At this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Iris, the Ducey family, and all who knew and loved Dane. Our thoughts are with you as you remember and celebrate his life.

Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of local patients and families. ❤️

🎙️❤️ THANK YOU TO OUR RADIOTHON GUEST SPEAKERS❤️ 🎙️

One of the most meaningful parts of our annual Radiothon is hearing the voices and stories of those who help make local healthcare stronger every day.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our guest speakers who joined us during our 2026 Radiothon, "Home Is Where The Heart Is". Whether you were a healthcare professional, NL Health Services leader, BPHCF Board member, community organization, municipal, provincial or federal government representative, donor, volunteer, or community advocate, your participation helped showcase the incredible impact of local healthcare across the Burin Peninsula.

Your stories, experiences, insights, and words of encouragement reminded listeners why supporting healthcare close to home matters so much to the people and families we serve. 🥰

Thank you for taking the time to be part of this special day and for helping us celebrate the people, programs, and partnerships that make our communities stronger. Together, we are helping ensure the enhancement of local healthcare right here at home. ❤️🏥

💙 It's not too late to support our 2026 Radiothon! Donations are still being accepted and every gift will help support vital healthcare priorities across the Burin Peninsula.
