Monday, December 29, 2025 marks an end of an era. After over 30 years of service, It will be Margaret’s last day of work. 😢
✨ Thirty Years of Margaret ✨
Well… where do we even begin?
In 1995 (yes, nineteen ninety-five), when Cheryl went off on maternity leave, along came a woman named Margaret — and Ellwood Park Animal Hospital was never the same again.
Straight out of a teaching background, one of her colleagues provided her name to Ray, knowing she was looking for a change. Little did she know what she was signing up for.
Margaret arrived with order, structure, and a very firm belief in doing things properly. Back then, our “big” team was four employees and Dr. Ray — and honestly? We needed her. Badly. She became the calm in the chaos, the rule-keeper, the list-maker, and the steady heartbeat of reception.
As Ellwood grew, Margaret never wavered.
She stayed our rock, our anchor, our “everything will be fine because Margaret is here” person. You truly could not ask for a more steadfast human to lead the way at the front desk. The moral compass that we all looked to when we needed guidance.
Now… there are many stories from Margaret’s 30-year tenure — far too many to share here — but we must mention the infamous typewriter incident.
Yes. You read that right, a typewriter.
It happened very early in her career at Ellwood.
A bottle of liquid Strongid-T.
One klutzy moment.
One very sticky keyboard.
Dr. Ray’s wife Roxanne (a writer, and rightful lover of said typewriter) was understandably not thrilled. Margaret was mortified and believed she would be fired. (we mostly blame Dr. Ray for not tightening the lid 😏) Thankfully Cheryl had a spare typewriter at home to donate. Prescription labels were saved. Margaret’s job was saved. A legend was born.🙌
Truthfully though? That might be the only mistake Margaret has ever made — because otherwise, she’s been pretty much perfect. The rest of the memories are full of laughter, teamwork, and those gut-laugh moments that only come from years spent together.
Margaret, we can’t believe it’s been 30 years.
We’ve been through it all — growth, change, chaos, and joy — and we cannot imagine Ellwood without you. It has been the greatest honour and privilege to work alongside you.
We love you more than words (or rhymes) can say.
Enjoy every minute of this next chapter — you’ve more than earned it. 💙
