🐝 Bee Sting Safety for Pets This Summer ☀️🐾
As the weather warms up, our furry friends spend more time outdoors — and that means more chances of curious noses getting too close to bees and wasps! Most bee stings cause only mild swelling, but some pets can have serious allergic reactions that need immediate veterinary care.
🚨 Signs of a Severe Reaction — Seek Emergency Care Immediately
If your pet develops any of the following signs after a sting. Contact us right away:
• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Swelling of the face, lips, or neck
• Hives or welts over the body
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness or collapse
🛠️ First Aid for Minor Bee Stings
If your pet seems comfortable and has only mild swelling:
✔️ Remove the stinger by gently scraping it out with a credit card or similar object
✔️ Apply a cool compress for 10–15 minutes
✔️ Monitor closely for worsening swelling or breathing changes over the next 12–24 hours
✔️ Bring your pet into the clinic for a checkup if you are concerned
