Would you turn your back on your grandmother or grandfather just because they got old?

So why do we do that with our senior dogs? This is the time in their lives when they need more love, not less. When their joints ache, their eyesight fades, and they move a little slower, they are trusting us to stay by their side.

Let’s not treat age like a burden. Let’s treat our senior dogs with grace.

💛 Here are a few simple ways to care for your senior dog:🐾 Softer bedding for achy joints🐾 Gentle walks, not long treks🐾 Regular vet checkups🐾 Patience and love always.

Growing old is part of life for them and for us. And how we care for those who grow old says everything about who we are.

Chaining a dog all day is not care, it's confinement.

All dogs need daily walks, play, and interaction to stay healthy and happy. Long-term chaining can cause:

• Physical harm like neck injuries and infections
• Behavioural problems including anxiety and aggression
• Poor socialisation and fearfulness
• Boredom and deep frustration

Give your dog what they truly need. The freedom to move, bond, and be dogs.

🚫 Stop Using Harmful Chemicals on Dogs! 🐶💔
We’ve heard the stories and seen people using kerosene oil, Jeyes fluid, bleach or Dettol etc...to try and kill ticks on their dogs. But these substances are toxic and can cause far more harm than good.

🛑 Here’s what repeated use can lead to:
• Severe skin burns and irritation
• Toxic poisoning (especially when licked)
• Respiratory distress from fumes
• Organ damage over time
• Pain, suffering and even death

✅ Safer Alternatives:
✔ Vet-approved tick shampoos and sprays
✔ Natural remedies like neem oil (diluted)
✔ Regular tick checks and grooming
✔ Tick prevention collars or vet-prescribed oral treatments

Let’s treat our pets with the care and respect they deserve. 💕 When in doubt, ask a vet. Apply common sense and care.

In a landmark move applauded by animal welfare advocates, the United States Navy has officially ended all medical testing on dogs and cats. Secretary of the Navy John C. Miss Allison Caddle (Animal Control Officer) and Rashad Neblett of Triple N Kennels got together recently for a fun, impromptu chat about an exciting new collaboration. Rashad’s dogs, Kong and Mocha, and Miss Caddle’s dog, Luna, were all part of the action. They’ll be sharing dog training videos and care tips on social media, so stay tuned.

We didn’t have our microphones with us, so the sound isn’t perfect, but the conversation was too good not to share. Interview questions by Gail Hunte, trustee at AFAB - Action for Animals Barbados Page
