Frog Dog Studios

Frog Dog Studios Melbourne Pet Photography Studio.

'Because your best friend is a work of art' I know right?! What took me so long? I know I would be! And I love it. Great! Yeah.

You may be aware that Frog Dog Studios only started trading in February this year, but what you might not know is that behind the scenes this business has been evolving for years. Well I have been working in the pet industry now for as long as I can remember. When I was 21 I started my first business as a dog groomer which set the pace for things to come. I then went on to work in animal welfare a

nd provided after hours emergency services for all kinds of animals. This position eventually led me down the path of animal management and owner education. Over the years I have had extensive hands on training in animal behaviour, particularly with dogs and I still have a keen interest in this area. What's this all got to do with Frog Dog Studios you might be thinking? So one day I got to thinking about what direction I wanted to head next. I have always been a creative person and have a passion for the arts. It took me a few months to work it out but I eventually enrolled to do a Diploma of Photography which then led to a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT. So here we are 17 years after I first started working with dogs and the natural progression was to combine my two loves and open Frog Dog Studios! Every single minute of it. I tell you, I can't believe it took me this long to get to here but I did and I couldn't be happier

So enough about me, what about Frog Dog Studios? What's that all about? It's all about the celebration of the amazing connection we have with our best friends! Myself and my trusty sidekick Tony have decided that we want to offer a different kind of experience. With my animal behaviour and photography know how coupled with Tony's everlasting patience and tech support we believe we can provide that for all pet owners. How is it different? All our photography is done in studio which gives us complete control over lighting, positioning, colour and action. (Maybe not your pets behaviour, but that can be a good thing!)

Once we are in the studio we like don't like to pose to much. We prefer to let your pet shine and capture their personality by evolving our artwork around them. Does your dog like to catch or play tug of war? Or perhaps they are more relaxed and like to lay around? Don't think your pet would sit still long enough? That's when we get the best shots. With our high speed photography techniques we capture all the humorous moments that make our best friends who they are. Check out some of the work we have done at frogdogstudios.com.au/gallery. Our finished products are all hand printed, certified and guaranteed by me! You can see a little more about what we offer here. The last thing that sets us apart is our approach to package pricing. Ever signed up for a reasonable photography session fee to find out later that your images are going to cost you thousands on top of that?! Me too. We don't want to work that way. All Frog Dog Studio packages are all inclusive! We want everyone to be able to spoil themselves and their best friend with out any hidden surprises! This is why we have designed our packages to be all inclusive so you know what you are paying for up front. No surprises. Ever. Of course you can add to your package if you like and we can also custom design one specific to your needs but you will know the cost up front every time. Anyway, I think that's enough from me for one day don't you think?! FYI - we also Oxipay and gift certificates. We know photography is a luxury item and we want everyone to have the chance to celebrate with their best friends so shoot me an email and see how we can help you have the Frog Dog experience too! Woofs and wet noses,

Belinda and Tony x

Where do your ideas actually come from?
I get asked this a lot.
And the answer is...
Everywhere.
A movie. A painting. A song. A conversation. Something I find in an op shop. A dog's expression. A stupid joke.
But here's the thing.
Most of those little sparks don't immediately turn into great ideas.
I write them down. I play with them. I let them sit.
Some develop over weeks or months.
Some get changed beyond recognition.
Some are complete crap and end up on the cutting room floor.
And every now and then, I come back to one years later and suddenly know exactly what it needs.
I don't think being creative means you magically have better ideas than everyone else.
I think you learn how to notice them.
And then you learn how to give them the time and attention they need to become something more.
That's a huge part of what we'll be exploring in Unleash Your Creative Vision.
Not just HOW to create the finished image.
But how to find the idea in the first place.
How to develop it.
How to tell a story with it.
And how to know when it needs a little more time to cook.
If you want to start creating work that feels more like YOU, come and join me.
Unleash Your Creative Vision
Three days of creativity, concept development and composite artistry.

Great artwork doesn't start in Photoshop.

It starts with an idea.

I've been wanting to rework this workshop for quite some time because I wanted it to be about so much more than teaching you how to create a composite.

So, I'm very excited to finally announce that Unleash Your Creative Vision is officially OPEN for bookings!

This is a three day workshop about the entire creative process, from that first little spark of an idea through to the finished artwork.

We're going to spend our first day slowing things right down. We'll talk about where ideas come from, how to find inspiration in places you may never have considered, how other artists use composition, colour, symbolism and design to tell stories, and how to take an idea and really tease it out before you rush to pick up the camera.

I'll show you how I develop my own concepts and some of the planning that goes into my work. Some ideas come together quickly. Some completely change direction. Others end up on the cutting room floor only to be resurrected years later when I finally work out what was missing.

Then over Days Two and Three, we bring it all to life in Photoshop. I'll provide a library of professionally photographed animals, props and elements for you to use, but you won't be recreating one of my images.

You get to decide what you want to create.

Everyone gets the same ingredients, but nobody has to bake the same cake.

I'll guide you through my compositing workflow, demonstrate the techniques I use and help you problem solve your way through creating an original piece of artwork of your own.

My goal isn't for you to leave with a copy of my work.

I want you to leave looking at your own work differently. I want you to slow down, explore your ideas further and have the confidence and skills to turn what's in your head into something that is uniquely yours.

If this sounds like your kind of three days, I'd love to have you there.

Unleash Your Creative Vision is now open for bookings.

See all the details, syllabus and book your place via the link in the comment section.

And if you have any questions, pop them below or send me a message.

A few weeks ago I was able to present a short workshop at the conference where I demonstrated how I work with my clients to create their imagery. Calcifer was our first model fr the afternoon and approached the job with the enthusiasm only a young pup could! So much legs to pounce with!

And what about that hair do?! Such an absolute delight to spend time with this handsome ball of fun. 🥰

🌼 MEET TOFU, TEMPEH & BUSY 🌼

Recently the crew visited again for updated portraits and they brought their newest addition Busy along for her first session. I first photographed Tofu & Tempeh way back in 2018 and have seen them a few time over the years now.

I love doing updated images as our pets age. They change so much and it is a delight to document these priceless memories for you. 🥰
