Frog Dog Studios

Frog Dog Studios Melbourne Pet Photography Studio.

'Because your best friend is a work of art' I know right?! What took me so long? I know I would be! And I love it. Great! Yeah.

You may be aware that Frog Dog Studios only started trading in February this year, but what you might not know is that behind the scenes this business has been evolving for years. Well I have been working in the pet industry now for as long as I can remember. When I was 21 I started my first business as a dog groomer which set the pace for things to come. I then went on to work in animal welfare a

nd provided after hours emergency services for all kinds of animals. This position eventually led me down the path of animal management and owner education. Over the years I have had extensive hands on training in animal behaviour, particularly with dogs and I still have a keen interest in this area. What's this all got to do with Frog Dog Studios you might be thinking? So one day I got to thinking about what direction I wanted to head next. I have always been a creative person and have a passion for the arts. It took me a few months to work it out but I eventually enrolled to do a Diploma of Photography which then led to a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT. So here we are 17 years after I first started working with dogs and the natural progression was to combine my two loves and open Frog Dog Studios! Every single minute of it. I tell you, I can't believe it took me this long to get to here but I did and I couldn't be happier

So enough about me, what about Frog Dog Studios? What's that all about? It's all about the celebration of the amazing connection we have with our best friends! Myself and my trusty sidekick Tony have decided that we want to offer a different kind of experience. With my animal behaviour and photography know how coupled with Tony's everlasting patience and tech support we believe we can provide that for all pet owners. How is it different? All our photography is done in studio which gives us complete control over lighting, positioning, colour and action. (Maybe not your pets behaviour, but that can be a good thing!)

Once we are in the studio we like don't like to pose to much. We prefer to let your pet shine and capture their personality by evolving our artwork around them. Does your dog like to catch or play tug of war? Or perhaps they are more relaxed and like to lay around? Don't think your pet would sit still long enough? That's when we get the best shots. With our high speed photography techniques we capture all the humorous moments that make our best friends who they are. Check out some of the work we have done at frogdogstudios.com.au/gallery. Our finished products are all hand printed, certified and guaranteed by me! You can see a little more about what we offer here. The last thing that sets us apart is our approach to package pricing. Ever signed up for a reasonable photography session fee to find out later that your images are going to cost you thousands on top of that?! Me too. We don't want to work that way. All Frog Dog Studio packages are all inclusive! We want everyone to be able to spoil themselves and their best friend with out any hidden surprises! This is why we have designed our packages to be all inclusive so you know what you are paying for up front. No surprises. Ever. Of course you can add to your package if you like and we can also custom design one specific to your needs but you will know the cost up front every time. Anyway, I think that's enough from me for one day don't you think?! FYI - we also Oxipay and gift certificates. We know photography is a luxury item and we want everyone to have the chance to celebrate with their best friends so shoot me an email and see how we can help you have the Frog Dog experience too! Woofs and wet noses,

Belinda and Tony x

🌼 MEET ERNIE & PEPITO 🌼

BREEDS: Pomeranian & Chihuahua

These little munchkins came to see me a in March and were the first ones to test out the new studio! They were adorable little things with Ernie being the cuddle bug and Pepito being your typical chihuahua who was fine as long as you didn't touch him!

I’ve got just 2 spots left in my upcoming Pixels, Poses, Paws and Profit workshop… and with only two weeks to go, this is your sign to stop thinking about it and just do the thing.

I keep these workshops intentionally small so you’re not fighting for time, attention, or hands-on experience. You get proper access, proper feedback, and a chance to actually implement what you’re learning.

This isn’t just about taking nice photos of dogs.

It’s about:
– Understanding lighting so you’re not guessing
– Posing with purpose (that actually sells)
– Creating images your clients want on their walls
– Building a workflow that doesn’t make you want to cry

Once these last two spots are gone, that’s it. There will not be another Pixels, Poses, Paws and Profit workshop scheduled in Australia until 2028.

Claim your spot now - Use code LASTMINUTELUCKYDUCK to receive $250 of registration

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, this is the nudge.

Norma & Albie kicked things off for my live demos at the Photography Show in Birmingham… and they could not have been more different.

Norma the poodle walked in like she owned the place. Confident, switched on, and absolutely ready for her moment in the spotlight.

Albie the Labrador… felt that spotlight. You could see him trying so hard to be a good boy, but the noise, the crowd, the pressure can be a lot for some dogs.

Not every dog is going to show up as a ready made supermodel, and as photographers, it’s our job to read the dog in front of us and adapt. Different energy, different approach, different expectations.

Both of them were perfect in their own way, and such a great example of how no two sessions are ever the same.

Meekah the Alaskan Malamute was our final model for the Birmingham workshop, and what a way to finish.

She is an absolutely stunning girl with the kind of presence that makes everyone stop and stare. But beyond the looks, she was beautifully behaved and such a credit to the time, patience and training her mum has clearly put into her.

Calm, confident, and an absolute dream to photograph, Meekah made it so easy for everyone in the workshop to create something special.

Dogs like her are such a reminder that great portraits don’t just happen—they’re a team effort between photographer, dog, and the humans behind them.

She was an absolute delight and I’d photograph her again in a heartbeat.

Can you believe it’s almost May?! So far this year the last few months have been a whirlwind with no signs of slowing down!

So let’s talk about what’s on in May. Before the PPBN Connect kicks off on the Gold Coast, I’ll be heading to Brisbane for my Pixels, Poses, Paws and Profit workshop—and honestly, if you’re serious about improving your studio pet photography, this should be your first stop.

May 18th - 20th

This workshop is all about creating studio portraits that not only look incredible but actually sell. Think of it like a bootcamp for those aspiring pet photographers and those wanting to add pet photography into their repertoire.

We’ll cover safe pet handling, studio lighting that works for real client sessions, posing that brings out personality, equipment and settings, portfolio-building, wall art design, and the pricing strategies that help turn great images into profitable sales.

It’s practical, hands-on, and designed to help you walk away with skills you can immediately apply to your business. Only 2 spots left.

May 21st - 24th

Then, straight after that, we roll into PPBN Connect 2026 on the Gold Coast.

I’ll also be teaching my Studio Pet Portraiture Workshop there, alongside the incredibly talented Craig Turner-Bullock and Charlotte Reeves, who’ll be covering natural light beach sessions, action, galleries that sell, and product strategies that work.

Together, it gives you the full picture.

Studio lighting and natural light.
Action and polished portraits.
Creative shooting and business strategy.

If you can make both, do it. Seriously.

And if you’re joining us for PPBN Connect, don’t forget you can still save $200 with the code IMISSEDTHEEARLYBIRD.

Final conference ticket sales close 12th May at 9pm AEST, and spots are disappearing quickly.

Link in comments for tickets and more info.

So… Brisbane first, Gold Coast next.

Let’s make May a very expensive month for your credit card and a very profitable one for your business.

I can’t wait to see you there!

Toffee the Bengal absolutely stole the show at my Birmingham workshop.

Confident, curious, and completely unbothered by being the centre of attention, he marched in and won everyone over instantly. And when it came time to pose… he understood the assignment.

He posed his tail off and gave the group such a great chance to work with something a little different.

I always love including a cat model in my workshops if I can. Cats require a different approach to dogs, and with more and more kitty clients booking studio sessions, it’s such an important skill for photographers to build confidence in.

And I ran into him again that weekend getting around The Photography Show with his Mum who he goes everywhere with!

Alfie was the goodest kind of chaos at my Birmingham workshop.
A stage five clinger… until the ball came out and suddenly his humans no longer existed.
This sweet black lab mix was one of our incredible models for Pixels, Poses, Paws & Profit, and I always make a point of including black dogs in my workshops because they’re often seen as “too hard” to photograph.
Dark coats can be tricky with lighting, detail and separation, but once you understand how to work with them, they create some of the most striking portraits.
Helping photographers build confidence with dogs like Alfie is one of my favourite parts of teaching.
And honestly… I think he made a stunning model.

Studio reno update #2: I accidentally became a qualified tradie in the last three weeks 😅

Since my last update I’ve learned how to render walls (who even am I?), and I’ve painted so much that I’m pretty sure I could do it professionally now. Thank goodness for the spray gun, my arms may never recover otherwise.

Today was a big day! The electrician came and installed the air con, downlights and a bunch of new power points. They’re not finished yet, but walking in today was the first time it actually felt like a legit studio instead of a very expensive DIY experiment. The roof railing system is in, the backdrop system is installed, and suddenly it all looks very official.

Next victim is the floor. I’ve chosen hybrid floorboards and will be installing them myself because apparently I enjoy stress. I did the floors in my old studio, so I’m hoping muscle memory kicks in and there are no surprise plot twists.

It’s still chaos, dusty and mildly unhinged, but watching this space slowly come to life is weirdly satisfying. More updates soon assuming I survive the flooring stage.

Studio reno update – 4 weeks in and officially dusty 😅
I thought it was time for a little behind-the-scenes update on the studio move + renovation, because wow… it’s been a month.

So far we’ve:
- Removed the old garage door
- Replaced it with French doors we scored on Marketplace for $300 (still proud of that one 🙌)
- Covered one of the brick walls with insulation and added a beautiful new textured finish

And that’s just the beginning…

Still to come:
- Painting the new doors and the inside of the studio
- Installing air con (future me is VERY excited about this)
- New downlights + some fancy feature lighting
- A brand new hybrid floor
- Painting furniture to suit the new look
…and I’m sure a million other things that will magically appear on the to-do list

We’re doing most of this ourselves (because apparently I enjoy mild torture 😂), with help only for hanging the doors, electrical, and air con. I don’t know why I insist on DIY, it can be exhausting and messy but I do love the feeling of standing back at the end of the day and thinking, we did that.

It’s very much a work in progress, but it’s already starting to feel like something special. Can’t wait to share more as it all comes together 💛

Also, anyone wanna buy a treadmill or Pilates reformer? lol
