Join us for Part 2 in our Handler Mechanics series. The second part of the series aims to build on many of the fundamental concepts we covered in Part 1, to bring even more tools to your arsenal as a trainer or handler.

Part 2 will consist of a wide range of topics including the how and why of using toys as reinforcement, working around distractions, approaches to increasing criteria, common mistakes in teaching, and much more.

This is a private lesson package, carefully developed to assist with these behavioural issues. Your trainer does have access to dogs which can be used in these sessions.

A private lesson format is the best option for these cases, as it provides a more careful mechanism to introduce dogs and to start the counter conditioning process, leading to real results.

Once working through the private lesson package you will be far better equipped to join a class.

🐕 Our training programs have a strong focus on the development of each dog (not just fixing problems). Balanced, content and happy dogs, are far less likely to display undesirable behaviour.

🐕‍🦺 This approach also hugely benefits the dog/handler relationship. Creating a high level of trust and understanding, resulting in more freedom and opportunity to explore the world.

Building the Turns

* A loose lead walk is a completely different training exercise and skill.

A focused heel is made up of many many small independent skills and components that we ultimately tie together. All of the pieces are essential to build a coordinated and clear picture for the dog.

A focused heel is generally used in competition/dog sport.

Like all training skills, there are many different approaches. None are right or wrong - they are just preferences. This is my preference for this dog.

We offer a comprehensive range of dog training programs, from puppy programs to adult dog training, tailored private lessons for personalised attention, and our very popular specialised programs, which are designed to provide expert training for specific dog types/breeds with a strong focus on drive fulfillment and developing happy, balanced and well-trained dogs.

Pro Dog offers world-class daycare facilities that provide enriching social opportunities to enhance a dog’s wellbeing. Our expert team cultivate healthy inter-dog social skills, ensuring a safe day for all, filled with fun and fulfillment.

We host regular events and workshops, which our team can for the most part attend for free. We are a fast-growing business with plenty of opportunity for professional growth.

We are looking for expressions of interest for a daycare and training roles.

See desirable prior experience below (role dependent):

- NDTF Cert 3 in Dog Training & Behaviour (completed or close to finished, or similar qualification)
- Demonstrated dog training skill-set with their own dog (past or present)
- Class teaching experience
- Private training experience
- A strong passion for coaching people
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Daycare group management experience
