AIREDALE TERRIER

The Airedale Terrier originated from the Aire Valley of Yorkshire, in England. They were used for hunting along the river valleys, flushing out Otters and other small animals.

Their coat type is hypoallergenic, meaning it tends not to generate an allergic reaction in people. The outer coat is hard, wiry and stiff, while the under coat is soft. The Airedale Terrier requires regular brushing to keep their coat knot free and shift loose undercoat. In a salon environment they are either hand-stripped, brushed out and lightly trimmed, or clipped off short for easy maintenance.

Meet W I N N I E 💜 an 18 month old Spoodle.

Winnie visits for a Day Spa Full Groom every 6 weeks. She has a very thick, fast growing coat that requires regular grooming to keep her knot free and feeling comfortable.

Winnie is super friendly, loves to give kisses, and finds it hard to contain her joyous wiggle during grooming…. so we allow her to have regular breaks to move about and release energy.

Some of you have been asking what is an Enrichment Session?
With the extra space at our new location, 1 Connell St, Wangaratta, we’re excited to offer Enrichment Sessions for your dog in the near future!
These one-on-one sessions with a certified trainer include a safe breed specific activity course, scent games, strength and mobility exercises and the perfect opportunity for your dog to burn off excess energy, all while reinforcing good manners and skills in a positive environment. We will let you know when bookings open up for this service💜

‼️ OUR EXCITING NEWS….

We’ve been hinting at some big news …and we’re finally able to announce what it is!

WE ARE MOVING PREMISES to 1 Connell St (off Newman St) - our first day in the new location will be Tuesday 10th June.

We are moving to the front buildings at the old RSPCA site. A quieter location for ease of parking and dog movement, a nice secure big block, new multi room buildings, with space to expand on our health services!

We absolutely ARE NOT going to be taking on the role of an animal shelter or boarding facility. Nothing changes for us we are still the same team and offering all our usual services of grooming and myotherapy with Canine Nurture.

And we look forward to sharing more on some NEW SERVICES we will be offering which will include: puppy school, training and support, enrichment sessions and hydrotherapy. Stay tuned for more information on these new services.

If you’re still not sure of where we are moving to, it’s in a quiet little street not far from Bunnings, Nu Fruit and the Avian Raceway (greyhound track).

We will announce some dates in the near future where you can visit us in the new location and bring your dog to have a look around. We are aware of the journey with many of your dogs to build their confidence in our current space - and we are keen to help them transition into our new space smoothly.

Due to their grooming needs, some dogs see us more often than they see their vet. Regular handling during grooming allows us to spot subtle changes, like new lumps, ear infections, or mobility issues that may lead to an arthritis diagnosis - even the early signs of degenerative myelopathy. Our knowledge and familiarity with each dog’s normal movement and behavior allows us to help owners catch potential health concerns early so they can seek veterinary care before things progress.

This World Veterinary Day, we celebrate the teamwork that goes into keeping animals healthy. With this year’s theme, "Animal Health Takes a Team," it’s a perfect reminder that vets, groomers, therapists, and pet owners all play a role in ensuring the best possible care for our dogs 💜

As we take time to honor the brave men and women who are serving and have served, we also remember the animals who were right there with them. From WWI to today’s missions, these animals were more than just helpers, they were loyal companions, hard workers and quiet heroes.
🐴 Horses
Carried soldiers, supplies and pulled artillery - over 130,000 Australian horses served in WWI.
🐶 Dogs
Served as messengers, scouts, guards and companions. Their loyalty and courage saved lives and boosted morale.
🐦 Pigeons
Carried critical messages across enemy lines when no other communication was possible, often saving entire units.
🐪 Camels
Essential in the desert campaigns, carrying water and supplies across harsh terrain in places like the Middle East.

🐘 Donkeys
One donkey, famously led by Private John Simpson, helped carry wounded soldiers from the battlefield at Gallipoli. Their story became one of the most iconic symbols of compassion and courage.
