Our newsest team member is Nurse Sophie. Many of you will already know her from doing surgical admits, discharges and being one of consulting nurses. She is a Cert IV qualified nurse who started her career in the northern Shoalhaven. Her infectious smile and her gentle manner has made her fit right in and we know you will all love her. Welcome Nurse Sophie!

There has been a positive bird flu case in an Australian Tern at Dolphin Point south of Ulladulla.
This is very distressing and I urge people to be vigilant, particularly when walking their dogs on local beaches and near waterways.
If you see sick or dead birds or other animals, do not touch them.
Avoid contact. Record what you see. Report multiple sick or dead birds or other animals to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888 or visit birdflu.gov.au

Introducing the first of our two newest team members.
Chantelle is currently studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology degree at Charles Sturt University. After being offered a place to transfer to the veterinary science degree, Chantelle declined to concentrate on helping us and learn the ropes from our nurses and vets. Whether it be maintaining instrument sterilization and hospital cleanliness, through to assisting vets in consults, Chantelle has a lovely manner with clients and is a technological whiz. Perhaps her hardest role is being mum to her rapidly growing German Shepherd pup, Max!

A huge thanks to Nurse Ash for taking on a massive project. One would think new uniforms is easy- but throw in 25 people with different body shapes, different opinions and a clear vision from the boss, it was a gigantic long ordeal but Ash never faultered. A fresh new look is on its way!

Echidnas are such an amazing creature. They may be prickly on the outside, but helping them and other native animals is what we do. Vets often get told “you are only in it for the money”. Nothing could be further from the truth- all native animal work is done pro bono at a significant cost to our vet hospital, but it is our heart work and we would not have it any other way other way. After a thorough check and x-rays, Dr Andrea sent this little one to a fabulous carer for some rehab pre-release back into the wild.

Did you know fhat whippets require very little grooming, can reach speeds up to 56 km/ hr, very rarely bark and originated from England? Just like Dr Naomi.
Smiles all round today when “Poppy’ visited for her puppy vaccination.. So adorable !

There are not many jobs more rewarding than bringing new life into this world. After this beautiful calf was stuck, both the cow and calf were in danger. It was a big effort by Dr Romi and Nurse Ash to reposition and pull the calf successfully. Mum and bub are both doing really well 😍
