🌸⚠️ Muttley's Story and why lily plants can be deadly for your pets

Meet Muttley. 🐾
This gorgeous boy spent the last 6 days in intensive care with us here at Tanilba Bay Vet after eating lily plants from his garden.
He came to us in acute kidney failure and received a massive 12 bags of fluids to help his little body recover.
And today? He is home. He is well. He is one very lucky dog. 🎉
We are so proud of how hard Muttley fought and so grateful to his family for acting quickly. 💛

⚠️ Please read this... it could save your pet's life
Lily plants are extremely dangerous to pets — and many people simply do not know.
🌸 For cats — lilies are severely toxic. Even a tiny amount — a few petals, a leaf, even pollen licked from their fur — can cause acute kidney failure and death within 24 to 72 hours.
🐶 For dogs — certain lily varieties can also cause serious illness including kidney damage, vomiting, lethargy and in severe cases kidney failure, just like Muttley experienced.

High blood pressure or hypertension is one of the most common conditions we see in older cats. And the tricky thing? Many cats show absolutely no signs at all until it becomes serious.
In fact, sudden blindness is often the very first sign a cat owner notices. 💔

Here are the subtle signs to watch for in your senior cat:
😴 Sleeping more than usual
🐾 Acting withdrawn or less engaged
😵 Bumping into things
👁️ Changes in the eyes, including bleeding
⚖️ Weight loss or hyperactivity, which can also point to conditions like hyperthyroidism

If you have noticed any of these signs in your cat, even just one, please do not wait. Early detection makes an enormous difference. 💛
Regular vet visits including blood pressure checks are one of the best things you can do for your senior cat's health and quality of life.
