Quick Tip from Angie & John Wicks : Turning Resistance off the Leg into Softness

If your horse resists leg pressure, don’t take your leg off. Keep steady pressure with one leg and use the rein to guide them. Hold the pressure until they soften or step over, then release as their reward.

Work in a small circle, using the inside leg to encourage the horse to step under with their inside hind leg. The goal is to help them respond to your leg with a positive attitude.

Be patient and consistent. With time, your horse will learn to respond softly and willingly.

· Reward Relaxation: Reward softness or deep breaths.
· Imagine a 5- or 6-sided shape on a small circle, asking for counter bend and weight shift as you ride this pattern.

With patience, you’ll build your horse’s relaxation to your leg cues.

Full course set up for training purposes or just bring a horse along for a ride around the grounds!

I will be there to help as needed

No limit on amount of rounds per horse

You can bring multiple horses😍

$10 horse levy & $10 per jump round

I will be at the grounds around 8am, please arrive between 8:15-8:30 if possible to help set the course up

9am start time !!! 💪

I try and explain to everyone this is what it’s like training a horse. There is no straight route to success, we must have ups and downs, backwards and forward progress, it’s normal and should be expected.

We absolutely love running these camps with the kids 🤩 another super fun day! Ending with a water balloon fight and everyone in the pool 🤣🤪

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR CAMP ‼️

🏁 New Start time of 8:30 due to the heat 🏁

I’ll be there from 7:30 to set up and help anyone with parking

Kids can be dropped off and picked up or parents can stay

This time we won’t be stopping for lunch like usual (will stop for drinks a few times and ice blocks) and the kids can dress up in their Christmas outfit before the games start 😎🥳🎄
