A huge shout out to beautiful Libby, who has officially retired as a Blood Donor! ❤️🐾

Libby has been a Blood Donor at WAVES since 2021 and has donated an incredible 6 times — helping save up to 12 lives over the past 5 years!

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to both Libby and her wonderful human mum for their support and commitment over the years. Your generosity has helped so many pets in need.

We hope retirement brings plenty of yummy snacks, comfy naps, and lots of well-deserved spoiling for sweet Libby! 🦴✨

🩸Friendly and calm during vet visits
🩸Happy, healthy, and no known heart conditions
🩸Aged between 1–7 years
🩸 Dogs: 28kg or more
🩸 Cats: 5kg or more
🩸 Never received a blood or plasma transfusion
🩸 Up to date with vaccinations
🩸 On regular worming prevention

Divi the hero! The gorgeous Divi donated blood to help other dogs after her brother Jaxon needed two emergency blood transfusions to save his life. Divi’s parents were absolutely wonderful and wanted to do all that they could to save other dogs like their handsome Jaxon. Divi was an absolute angel and loved all the treats and pats! Thank you so much to our brave super dog Divi!

Who needs a beautiful smile to brighten up their day? The gorgeous Jasper came in with his lovely human to donate blood and he was all smiles! Jasper was an absolute joy to work with and his kind donation will save up to three fellow dogs lives!

Meet the handsome Winston (or Winnie when he’s being less formal!).🍫🎩
Winston came in for his first blood donation with his mum Kim and took it all in his stride. He was so focussed on his treats, he didn’t even notice any needle! Winston was an absolute delight and charmed everyone who met him. Winston’s donation could save the lives of up to three other dogs! Thank you so much to our hero Winston and his lovely mum.

Introducing the beautiful Winnie! 🐾🌸

Winnie came in for her first blood donation and was an absolute dream! The most perfect pooch!

Winnie’s mum was there for support and Winnie happily swapped some of her precious blood for delicious chicken, treats and a bit of peanut butter.

Winnie’s donation could save the lives of up to three dogs and we are so grateful to all our donors and their families!

A huge thank you to Miss Winnie and her lovely mum and we can’t wait to see you again!

Feeling a little blue this Monday because of the dreary weather? ⛈️
We’ve got just the thing to start your week off the right way!

🌟Shiloh and Thor🌟
Our two superheroes completed their 10th donation with us last week, aren’t they amazing? 🤩

Over the years they have helped educate fellow vets and nurses on the processes of safe and fear free blood donations.
In addition to helping our industry grow they have also saved numerous dogs across Perth. 🐕

Between the 2 of them they’ve had the ability to save up to 60 different pets.. listed below are the medical conditions their blood and plasma has been used for over the years;
🩸IMHA (immune mediated thrombocytopenia)
🩸ITP (immune thrombocytopenia)
🩸Splenectomy
🩸Rat bait toxicity
🩸Parvo puppies
🩸DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation)
🩸Anemia
🩸Cancer

Meet Kobalt 🦋💙

Or as he’s affectionately known BoBo!

We did a call out to our donors this week as we’ve had quite a few rat bait toxicities come through our doors needing both blood and plasma transfusions.. this is on top of our already high demand and Kobalt raised his paw to help out 😍

Kobalt’s donation was extra special because not only was it his first time… it was also his birthday!! 🥳🎉

He was an absolute dream and sat politely waiting for his chicken to cool down.. he even fell asleep receiving his recovery fluids 😴

Kobalt then had a beautiful birthday cake waiting for him at home to celebrate with his dog sister Kahluna 🎂
