We had an interesting case in recently! 👀🔎

Nimbles the kitten had a rare eye condition which caused him to have a malformation in both his eyes due to him missing both his eyelids. 👁️

He was assessed by our vets at Yangebup and a specialist eye doctor to form a plan on how best to proceed with surgical management. We decided to proceed with a bilateral enucleation. 👁️❌👁️❌

This procedure involves separating the eyes from the surrounding muscle, optic nerve and other tissues within the eye orbit. Removing them from the eye orbit. Trimming down the remaining eye lid and then suturing the eye sockets closed.

This was done to improve Nimbles quality of life as his malformed eyes were not functional and causing him quite a bit of pain.

Nimbles has recovered incredibly well from his surgery, he is running around playing like a regular kitten, and is much happier and more comfortable after his procedure. 🥰

He is currently in foster care with one of our nurses and will be looking for his forever home in the near future! 🥰
