What a transformation!

This beautiful property now features a sleek new double swing gate, crafted from Design Pine for a smooth finish when painted.

We’ve automated the gate using the high-speed SOMMER Twist 350, thanks to our awesome suppliers .access.australia .

With a larger dog in the mix, we went a bit higher than standard on the fencing — the top rail sits at around 1500mm. Solid 150x150mm posts and 150x50mm rails made from Queensland White Cypress Pine supplied by the team at Barling’s Woodworks

Last week, we had the privilege of attending our first Australian Fencing and Gate Conference in Penrith, Sydney. This annual event offers seminars such as sustainability, safety, and skills in the industry, along with a trade show during the day. In the evening, the Gala Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the industry. We were thrilled to be finalists in three categories, and I was beyond excited to take home the 2024 Leading Industry Women award!

In a bushfire-prone area, our client struggled to find decorative window shutters that were resistant to bushfires, which they wanted as the final touch for their new home. As a past client of ours they came to us with a request to craft them from Blackbutt, a fire-resistant (BAL 29) timber. Naturally, we were excited to take on this challenge beyond our usual gate work. Each shutter is entirely handmade from Blackbutt, with each slat secured using mortise and tenon joins, then painted to complement the window frames. We're not going to lie it was a lot of work but we couldn't be more thrilled with how the finished shutters look on this beautiful home.

This month, we ventured slightly outside our usual installation area to install a new automated gate in Beaconsfield Upper. It's our first time working with the new SOMMER Twist 350 High Speed model from our suppliers .access.australia, which is double the speed of the standard Twist 350.

Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity of any mechanical or electronic equipment. We highly recommend having your gate motors serviced regularly, or at the very least, running your eyes over the motors and control box every few months to ensure they are clean and free from pests or moisture to avoid costly repairs.

The control board shown below appeared to be in perfect condition from the front. However, once removed, it was discovered that a slug had found its way inside and caused a short circuit, requiring the board to be replaced.

Definitely well and truly back into the swing of things with multiple gates on the go!
