This is from a couple of weeks ago now, but I just thought I should share it because Coni Paz took so many great photos and videos from our walk, and I’m really proud of how well behaved Juco and Whiskey were ❤️

This was Juco’s first trip back to the beach in 1 year and 9 months after injuring herself at the beginning of 2025. She loves a good walk on the beach, so it was such a great feeling to bring her out of the paddock, start building her strength again, and give her a change of scenery.

It was also the first time we’d ever tried taking Whiskey into the surf!! His previous owners said they mainly rode him around the farm, so they weren’t sure if he’d ever been in the ocean before, but he really seemed to enjoy being a seahorse! Such a good boy 🥰

Juco, on the other hand, took a little more convincing to go for a swim 😂 She LOVES being on the sand and splashing around in the shallows, but when it came to going a bit deeper, Juco made sure I was coming in with her before she trusted me enough to follow 🤣

But at the end of the day, both horses were so good, and we had such a beautiful morning getting out and about. Even Buddy came along and had an absolute blast! 🐾

Also, is it just me, or does Lennox Headland look a bit like a horse’s back? If you imagine the highest point as the horse’s withers?

Mini cowgirls getting crafty and giving Asha a glow-up at Paddock Kids today ✨

Let’s see… At today’s session we:
✔️ Painted some cowgirl boots
✔️ Got creative with ‘taste-safe’ messy play
✔️ Gave Asha a brush and transformed her into a rainbow unicorn 🌈
✔️ Had a picnic under the shady trees
✔️ Filled buckets and fed the horses
✔️ Played with organic flowers.

Not a bad way to spend a Thursday morning 💁🏼‍♀️🌸

Welcoming spring at Mothers Group 🌸

Today at Mothers Group, we welcomed the beginning of spring with sound healing, flower arranging, time with the horses, and meaningful conversations about motherhood.

We began with guided breathwork and sound healing, designed to stimulate the vagus nerve and encourage our nervous systems to slow down. Helping us ground ourselves and settle into the present moment.

Then, to celebrate the first day of spring, we created our very own flower bouquets. Using beautiful, freshly cut, spray-free flowers from Bibi Flower we each hand-selected our favourites and created a bunch to take home 💕

Once the flowers were all wrapped up, we spent the rest of the morning feeding and grooming the horses, all while chatting about navigating life as it constantly changes - particularly when transitioning to becoming a mum of two.

If you’re familiar with horses or farm life, you’ll know there’s something about being in the paddock that makes time just drift away. And before we knew it, it was 1pm and time to step back into our busy lives.

This week at Mothers Group, we explored communication, trust, body language and connection, as we began talking about what’s involved in bringing Juco back into work.

We looked closely at the subtle ways horses communicate through small changes in posture, tension and softness, and at the importance of noticing these cues.

We spoke about releasing pressure when a horse gives us the response we’re looking for, and allowing them the space and time they need to process information.

We also touched on how horses are incredibly sensitive to our own body language and emotional state. That they can often act as mirrors, reflecting back what we bring to them. And how working with horses can be such a powerful lesson in self-awareness, patience and communication.

These ideas naturally connected to parenting too. Both horses and children need to feel heard, supported through change, and nurtured when experiencing big emotions. When we miss the quieter cues, their communication could become louder, and escalate into undesirable behaviours that are difficult to manage.

We reflected on how listening, learning and adapting builds trust and connection with both our horses and children, helping us navigate the lifelong journey of becoming the best horsewomen and mothers we can be.

Alongside our time with the horses (and our beautiful babies, who fed, played and slept), we also got creative. With Justine from Three Suns Play we embroidered and tie-dyed library bags using natural turmeric dye.

It was a sunny morning of learning, connection, creativity and plenty of reminders that sometimes the most important lessons come from simply slowing down and paying attention.

With the sun shining and spring just around the corner, we had a very pretty morning with our Paddock Kids today🌻

We spent time with our beautiful horses, giving them lots of gentle brushes and decorating their manes with cute hair clips. Then we fed them with some carrots, apples and banana, all cut up by the kids.

Next we wandered into a world of butterflies, caterpillars and flowers at our messy play table. Our cacao and turmeric play dough was squished, rolled and shaped into little homes for our pretend butterflies and caterpillars. Then the flowers were added to a magical powder to make the prettiest potions.

For this week’s craft we made some Turmeric tie-dye bandannas, turning ordinary pieces of cotton into sunny yellow artworks.

It was morning filled with horses, flowers, creativity and lots of little hands getting busy outdoors🌿☀️

When I had my first baby, I went along to a Mother’s Group in Ballina called Mothers Nest , run by Nina and Fiona.

At Mother’s Group, these incredible women held space for us and guided us as we figured out what it meant to become a mother.

They taught me so much, and one of the lessons that has stayed with me, is that:

You need to fill your own cup ❤️

Because to be the best version of yourself (and ultimately a better mother, daughter, partner, friend, whatever) you need to look after yourself too.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Fiona, who is a birth and postpartum doula (among many other things), made it very clear that this kind of self-care is not just someone holding the baby while you have a shower!

It’s doing something that makes you feel like yourself again.

Something that settles your nervous system, makes you happy, and naturally re-energises you.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that while Mother’s Nest inspired our Mother’s Group session, I’m certainly not as experienced in helping women navigate matrescence as Nina and Fiona are.

But yesterday, at our Lennox Head Equestrian Mothers Group, I saw something that I thought was still pretty special.

I saw women filling their own cups.

I saw mums stepping away from the endless to-do list and making time to connect with other mums, share stories and have a laugh.

I saw women taking a deep breath, sitting in the sunshine and doing something creative.

I watched one mum plait Juco’s mane, just like she used to do with her childhood pony.

And I saw little sparkles in these women’s eyes. Moments of calm amongst all the beautiful chaos that comes with having a young family.

And that made me immensely happy 🥰

Mother’s Group isn’t just about the horses or craft. It’s about getting out of the house, meeting some other down-to-earth mummas, and making time to do something for yourself.
