Meet Nora- An 8-year-old ex-racing greyhound with a gentle soul and just the right touch of playful spirit.
Nora is a beautifully placid girl who spends most of her day doing what greyhounds do best… sleeping in comfort and soaking up the calm. But give her a yard, and you’ll see her playful side come out in the form of the occasional joyful zoomies.
She enjoys one to two walks a day and truly thrives on them- skipping a walk isn’t her favourite idea, and she’ll definitely let you know. On lead, she walks beautifully by your side, even alongside another dog.
Nora is incredibly friendly and will happily greet anyone who enters her space. She’s great with kids too, though she tends to take a relaxed, slightly “unbothered” approach when things get a bit loud or chaotic.
She’s fully toilet trained and comfortably holds overnight, and she’s a quiet housemate who rarely barks indoors. She travels well in the car (give her a soft bed or blanket and she’ll happily lie down for the ride).
Nora has experience living with other dogs. While she may take about a week to settle in, she communicates clearly and calmly. She’s also been around a puppy- initially playful but ultimately able to settle with guidance. She is untested with cats or pocket pets.
She knows basic commands like “sit” and understands “no” as a firm boundary. She previously had a recall (“here”), which may just need a little refresher.
Nora isn’t reactive or aggressive, but she can be a little timid in new environments and may take some time to build trust. She can be a bit unsure around men initially, though with patience and kindness, she warms up beautifully over a few weeks.
She’s easy to care for- currently on a dry food diet and is comfortable with grooming and handling (including feet, ears, and tail), though baths can make her a little nervous. She may need gentle reassurance and a helping hand getting in.
Nora also has pannus, which is very well managed with one eye drop a day and has improved significantly with treatment.
She comes with an array of coats for winter and rainy days (though she is a princess at heart and does not enjoy toileting on said wet grass) plus a therapeutic bed to keep her comfortable.
Like many greyhounds, she may dig a little in warmer weather to find a cool spot- something like a sandpit can easily redirect this behaviour.
Nora is a quiet, affectionate companion who just needs a little time to feel safe and once she does, she’ll reward you with loyalty, calm presence, and zoomies. Men can sometimes intimidate Nora- so patience is key!
