✨ New at Box Divvy ✨

Over the coming few months, we’re expanding our gourmet cheese range – starting this week with: Udder Delights Camembert from the Adelaide Hills and Goldstreet Dairy Jersey Cheese

The Udder Delights will be selling at $8.90 for the 200g pack (they’re $10.50 in Colesworth and Harris Farm), and we reckon it’s both the gooey-est and tastiest camembert available. Come to think of it: gooey and tasty probably go hand in hand.

The Goldstreet Jersey Cheese is made by Colin Wood in Marrickville from single herd Jersey cow's milk in Camden Valley It’s soooo versatile: it's a mix of halloumi, feta and mozzarella than can be grilled or pan-fried with a good amount of oil to crisp the outer edges and soften the insides. Or eaten fresh, it has a slight bite, an occasional squeak, and a lemony tang, crumbled, or grated it works well in fritters and quiches or crumbed and fried, it changes again and becomes an unctuous, creamy, crunchy, and delicious mess. Choose your own texture. Ingredients: Jersey milk, animal rennet, salt, and lemon peel.

And this week only, it’s 21% off: $13 instead of $16.50 for the 250g block. Most delis sell this cheese at $20...

Pickles and spreads from Three Threes:

1. Locally-grown
2. Locally-made
3. Australian-owned

Three 3’s right there.

A 100-year history
Three Threes is an Australian family-owned food manufacturing business that was first registered in 1919, by Stanley Roy McAlpine. Three Threes is currently managed by Michael McAlpine, the 4th Generation of The McAlpine family and his wife Justine.

Supporting Australian Farmers
Three Threes prides itself on purchasing from and supporting other Australian companies. Three Threes try to educate and encourage customers to buy Australian as this will help ensure manufacturing survives. Three Threes are also a strong advocate in purchasing Australian made ingredients, raw materials, locally made machinery and using local services. We use locally made glass, cartons and labels. We try, wherever possible, to use locally grown vegetables. Our quality range of Australian made products include family favourites Mightymite, delicious Sweet Mustard Pickles and home-grown Apple Sauce. We exclusively support Aussie farmers with all of our produce coming from New South Wales & Queensland.

You’ll be pickled to know that you’ll save on average 20% through Box Divvy compared with buying through Colesworth.

🍛 Maesri Panang Curry - deliciously rich, authentic Thai. And so easy: put in a pan, bring to the boil, add diced chicken thigh or prawns, add zucchini, simmer for 10 minutes and …you’ve just found your new best friend from Thailand. Serve with rice. Dinner sorted. And here’s the best bit: $2.35 per pack. We’ve seen these in Asian shops for $4. Go figure.

💜We’re loving this new variety of passionfruit: check out the juice and pulp. They’re grown in North Queensland where they are enjoying balmy 24-degree days – enough to produce them in big numbers. So prices are dropping this week to 75c each. We think that’s the cheapest they’ve been all year., and 40-50% cheaper than the supermarkets.

🥭 We’ve been eyeing these Kensington Pride mangoes from Darwin for a few weeks, but they were either too expensive or too green.

But this week, prices are moving into ‘reasonable’ territory (how’s $6.49 sound?), and they are colouring up nicely. To test this, we bought a tray on Monday – and by Thursday, they were getting ready. As the season progresses, they will colour up more quickly – but for now, expect them to take 3-5 days from the time you get them 🥭

🥘 When Beerenberg gave us some samples of their new Massaman Meal Base, we were a little sceptical. We like our Maesri and Mae Ploy Massaman sauce and paste – they’re the ‘real deal’ and authentically Asian. What would they know in Hahndorf, deep in the Adelaide Hills, about Massaman??

Well, quite a lot as it turns out. We followed the recipe on the jar, with some beef cheek and Dutch Cream potatoes, and were rewarded with a finger-licking version of Massaman. Sweet, no heat – as befits a proper Massaman. Australian-made with no nasties. Go and try them for yourself: they’re 7% off for the next 2 weeks.

Thus encouraged, we tried the Tikka Masala: mix a couple of spoons of the paste with some natural yoghurt, coat chicken thighs and marinate for a few hours – or overnight for best results. The instructions on the jar tell us to sear them in a hot pan, but we prefer the Tandoori method: pre-heat a grill on very high, lay the chicken pieces on an oven tray, and get it as close as you can underneath the grill. When the edges are charred, flip them over and repeat. Serve with the remaining sauce, rice, yoghurt/cucumber/garlic, naan bread and dahl. Approved by 100% of the test panel.

🍖 Roast your heart out 🍖

Well, not literally: but here are some beef roast options that don’t break the bank, to go with the Stock Merchant sauces that make up this week’s Divvy Deals:

The Girello – also known as the eye of round –is popular in Italia. It is a very lean piece of beef that can be used for schnitzels, minute steaks, scallopine or roasts.

Veal rump is both flavoursome and super tender: roast it here or here or turn into veal schnitzels.
The Picanha or rump cap is a favourite in Brazil: roastas is, or slice into steaks for the BBQ. Leave the fat cap on for extra flavour.

Whichever way you cook these cuts, pour over some Stock Merchant Gravy or Red Wine Jus – and serve with roast potatoes and a green salad.
