Hi All...just an update on progress or lack of it over the last couple of months. So over the last year the arthritis in my right (dominant) wrist has degraded my ability to carry out repetitious tasks and an increased pain level has seen things slow to a crawl. It has also had an effect on my playing to the point that even causes discomfort at times. After a visit to the hand surgeon and a subsequent cortisone injection I will hopefully be able to return to normal output, at least for a few months, to complete the backlog of builds and repairs. Plans are to have everything up to date by Christmas and start a new weissenborn build in January. If the wrist degrades again by the end of that period I will at least have covered my obligations and will revisit the surgeon. If the injection continues to do the job I have at least four more weissenborn builds from material I have in stock so I'll keep busy and weigh up my options.
The big news is I have the best looking master-grade Blackwood coming for the January build, with two more stunning looking master grade sets in reserve for builds. I will also be building a weissenborn from WA Peppermint Tree. While it is normally bulldozed into piles and burnt here in WA it is actually thought to also be quite a good tonewood. Looking forward to that project. In total I have 5 complete weissenborn sets in stock, including a honey coloured Blackwood that can be seen in DBGW #11 on the website at https://www.dogboxguitars.com.au .
A big thank you to those patiently waiting for jobs that are on my bench. Come Monday its hopefully full steam ahead until this injection wears off. Hoping for the best result, 6-12 months, but prepared for it to wear off sooner. Either way its from here to the finish line.
Hope you're all keeping well....Cheers....Hoss 😎
