Is your pup constantly scratching, licking, or chewing their paws?

If so, have you tried Cytopoint?

Cytopoint is an injection that provides fast relief from itching in dogs and lasts for 4 to 8 weeks.

It’s fast acting, long lasting and safe for dogs of all ages!

For those following along for our unicorn case, here is part two of her journey.

After a thorougher physical examination to ensure she was fit and healthy for surgery Dr Megan got to work.

Due to the location where the extra limbs were growing, our main concern was that they may be attached to the underlying skull. Thankfully her physical exam revealed this wasn’t the case - Time for surgery!

Our first step is sedation!
Sedation is a crucial step prior to surgical procedures as it not only helps relax the patient and provide pain relief but also reduces the amount of other drugs required during procedures.

Step 2, Oxygen
Once sedated we provide our patients with 100% oxygen to ensure their Red Blood Cells are functioning at their fullest in order to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Step 3, Induction
An endotracheal tube was then placed to secure her airway and provide a anaesthetic inhalant to keep her asleep for the duration of her procedure.

Step 4, Clipping
To ensure a surgical procedure is as sterile as possible our furry patients are clipped as short as possible around the incision site to prevent hair entering the induction during surgery.

-> this is normally the role of the surgical nurse but as you can see Dr Megan called dibs on this one

Stay tuned for the rest of her story…

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of meeting a SIX legged friend!

Yes, you read that correctly!
This calf was a mind blowing surprise for her owners when she was born with two extra legs growing from her head!

This unique congenital deformity is likely due to the reabsorption of a twin during the early stages of gestation.

Due to the location of the extra legs and their progressive growth as she aged, it was clear that they needed to be removed in order for her to have the best chance at life.

So at only a week old this beautifully unique calf came to us for a life altering procedure.

Follow along over the next few weeks to see the full journey 👀

Rat bait is a common household item, but it is highly toxic to our pets.

Symptoms of rodenticide toxicity depend on the bait type and may not appear for several days.

🚨 Key symptoms to watch for:
* Pale gums or weakness
* Coughing or difficulty breathing
* Vomiting or diarrhea (sometimes with blood)
* Lethargy and loss of appetite
* Unexplained bruising or bleeding
If you think your pet ingested rat bait, act immediately. Call us right away on our after-hours number (0413 550 735) or bring them straight in during business hours.

💡 Handy tip: If safe to do so, bring the product packaging or a photo of the ingredients with you. This helps our team choose the correct treatment fast.
