After 30 years as a vet, today I met my very first Peterbald cat!

Meet Ada. Aside from her sparse coat and beautiful oriental features, she is exactly what the breed is known for — incredibly friendly, animated and loving.

It was my privilege to visit her in her home.

This little cherub is Jhett — and Jhett has a whole new lease on life after having some very painful teeth removed.

Since adopting Jhett, his owners noticed that he just wasn’t himself: he was depressed, head pressing, star gazing, circling and, at times, very aggressive. After extensive investigations including blood tests, MRI scans, and consultations with behaviour and internal medicine specialists, his regular vet identified multiple diseased teeth and removed them.

Remarkably, immediately after surgery all of his neurological signs resolved. Jhett is now happy, comfortable, and no longer grumpy — just the lovely boy he was meant to be.

A powerful reminder to always look for underlying pain and address it wherever possible when faced with behavioural or neurological problems 🐾💛

Shoutout to to the team at Old Reynella Veterinary Clinic for doing an amazing job 👏👏👏

Edna’s Vet Housecalls will be closed from midday Christmas Eve until Monday 19 January, as we take a short break to rest and reset 🐾✨

📌 Important dates
✅ Last day for appointments & medication orders: Monday 15 December
✅ Closed: Midday 24 Dec
✅ Re-opening: Monday 19 January

If your pet is on regular medication, please be sure to order in advance so you’re well stocked over the break.
