Meet Bernie… and also meet Bernie 👀
Yes, it gets confusing in clinic sometimes.

On one side, we have our incredible nurse Bernie — calm, compassionate, endlessly kind and somehow also our unofficial IT department. If a computer freezes, a printer rebels, or something “randomly stops working”… Bernie is already halfway to fixing it before we’ve even finished saying “have you tried turning it off and on again?”

On the other side, we have patient Bernie — a very sweet Chihuahua currently being treated for a corneal ulcer, here for care and probably wondering why everyone keeps calling his name in different directions 🐶💙

Did you know we don’t just see cats and dogs at Melbourne Eye Vet? Sometimes our patients neigh! 🐴

We also see horses for ophthalmology consultations, helping diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions in our equine patients.

And when things need a little extra care, we’re able to perform surgical procedures for horses at South Eastern Equine Hospital, working alongside their experienced equine team to deliver the best possible outcomes.

From the consulting room to the operating theatre, we’re here to support eye health across all species (yes… even the ones with hooves).

Our very own clipper detective 🔍✂️
If the clippers aren’t cleaned properly, trust us… she already knows.

The only person at Melbourne Eye Vet who can somehow tell the difference between 14 pairs of identical surgical scissors without even blinking 👀

But aside from keeping us all in line, Esther is also an incredible nurse — kind, caring, always happy to help anyone, and someone we can always count on no matter how busy the day gets 💙

Yesterday we celebrated our amazing Gabby 🎉

The backbone of Melbourne Eye Vet, our practice manager, quiz master, white chocolate lover and firm believer that cream makes everything taste better!

Her office has somehow become the clinic dumping ground, regularly leading to:
“Who left this in here and WHY?” 😅

We also keep her on her toes by only mentioning stock is low when there’s one item left… or when someone magically finds an empty box still on the shelf.

And to the mystery person who keeps putting the bowl in the dishwasher the wrong way — thank you for keeping Gabby humble 😂

Thank you for everything you do for our team every single day. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without you.

When you love where you work because of the people who make it what it is 💚

We’re a little late to the party… (Dr Chloe beat us to it and already posted the charcuterie board before we could 😅) but we think our vets deserve more than just one post!

Happy (belated) World Veterinary Day to the most incredible team. The charcuterie board was just a small thank you for the huge amount of care, compassion and dedication you show every single day.

You’re not only amazing vets, but genuinely amazing people inside and out — and we are so lucky to work alongside you.

Kennel hand Charlie skipped work last week to paddle for Australia in the Asia Pacific Cup near Rotarua in New Zealand. He won four silver medals in K1, K2 and K4 events sprint kayaking. We are very proud!

Jessie the explorer got herself into a bit of trouble 🐾

This gorgeous 10-year-old Golden Retriever decided to go adventuring under the house… and unfortunately came out with a foreign body stuck in her cornea 😢

Our amazing Dr Chloe stepped in and performed delicate surgery to remove it and get Jessie back on the road to recovery. Eye injuries can escalate quickly, so we’re so glad she came in when she did.

Jessie was an absolute superstar patient and handled it all like a champ 💛

Moral of the story… maybe skip the under-the-house adventures next time, Jessie 😉

Wishing this sweet girl a smooth and speedy recovery!
