𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 — 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝟲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀! 🐾

Late one evening, 𝗗𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 and 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮 were called in to perform an 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻 on a maiden mum-to-be who was having trouble delivering her puppies. Things weren’t progressing normally. The owners had noticed green discharge and no obvious contractions for a period of time — an important warning sign that a puppy could be stuck or in distress.

On examination, it was clear things weren’t moving as they should, so an emergency caesarean was performed. Our team worked quickly to make sure mum and babies stayed safe.

𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 (and one little angel) were delivered via C-section — all big, strong pups who wasted no time latching on for their first feed while mum recovered from surgery.

Fast-forward six weeks to today: the pups came in for their vaccinations and microchips, this time meeting 𝗗𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗮 for their check-up. All wagging tails, happy wriggles, and lots of kisses — we couldn’t be happier to see them thriving! They had a nice nap after they received their vaccinations this morning. 💤😴

A huge thank you to the owners for acting quickly and trusting us with such an important moment. Mum is doing wonderfully, and her pups are already full of personality — the clinic team may have fallen just a little in love. 🐾 ❤️

We have registered to attend the bush summit next week. As we think it is important to have regional business and voices try to be part of these conversations, we want to keep a spot light on the importance of funding for our livestock health and biosecurity. Hopefully attendees will get a chance to highlight the challenges our human health system and employees are facing each day in our small country towns and our forgotten fantastic regional hospitals that do so much with so little. If you can register to attend try to come along.

🌟 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 🌟

Earlier this year we celebrated 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗠𝗰𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵 winning the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 (𝗩𝗕𝗚) 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 — and yesterday this article was published! We couldn’t be prouder to see Sarah, co-director of Millicent & Kingston Veterinary Clinic, recognised on a national stage.

👉 A bit of backstory:

Dr Sarah and her husband, Dr Sean McGrath, bought the Millicent Veterinary Clinic over 10 years ago and have since expanded, growing their team, upgrading facilities, and reaching Kingston and Meningie too. She is deeply involved in the local community, actively supporting numerous community groups.

👩‍⚕️ Dr Sarah, your passion, vision, and commitment to both your team and our community inspire us all. Here’s to the many more lives you’ll impact and the positive changes you’ll continue to lead—well done, Thought Leader of the Year! 💙

𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗲 — 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺! 🌟

𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗲 has just joined us as our new 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.

We asked Chloe a few questions so you can get to know her better!

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙘?
I’m a Veterinary Nurse, so you’ll often see me in consults alongside our vets, running nurse appointments, and helping with procedures. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way.

𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙨? 𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢!
I share my life with three wonderful Whippets!
𝗘𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 is my senior gentleman at 12½ years old. We’ve been together a long time and despite his increasing stubbornness in his old age I wouldn’t change him for anything. He still loves zooming around the yard, getting into big mischief and bossing his brothers around.
𝗛𝘂𝘅𝗹𝗲𝘆, 7, is the biggest snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. He’s always ready for an afternoon nap, will happily drool for a bite of whatever you’re eating. He has his own wardrobe of jumpers and will stare longingly at a blanket until you get up and tuck him in.
𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹, the “baby” at 4, still acts like a playful pup. He’s a sweet cuddlebug, loves a spirited round of “bitey face” with his brothers, and can out-zoom them both without breaking a sweat.

𝙄𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙮?
Considering I’m surrounded by whippets who live the high life, I wouldn’t mind swapping with one of them for a day. Lazing around and being waited on hand and foot sounds pretty great.

𝙁𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙙𝙖𝙮?
I love any savoury snacks but my go to would have to be popcorn!

𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪.
I enjoy my crafting hobbies. I mainly crochet and dabble in sewing and weaving also.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙤-𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙑 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙚?
My go-to comfort movie would be Harry Potter (all 8 of them).

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙨?
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and always dreamed of working in a field where I could help them. After moving from rural WA to Adelaide, I began my journey into Veterinary Nursing at TAFE SA. I was fortunate to secure a trainee position at Salisbury Veterinary Clinic, where I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at the end of 2024. Now, I’m excited to keep building my skills and knowledge as part of the team at Millicent Veterinary Clinic.
