Its been a rough week... π
I came home from work and went straight out to feed the goats their fruit and veg, tipped it in the feeder and turned to check the babies. I heard a noise so turned round and saw little Fin jumping around, sounding like he was choking. I quickly checked his airway and it was clear, but he kept convulsing. 2 mins later and he died in my arms with blood coming from his mouth. I assume he got knocked by one of the bigger girls??
Then yesterday morning I got a call to say that Venus was in labour with 2 babies on the ground but had a leg sticking out. We are always home for kiddings- we take days off work and make sure we dont have plans... but this year Venus took 7 weeks later than the other girls. We didnt have a due date, and we were down for Monster Trucks in Melb for our boys 3rd birthday. My dad looks after the animals when we go away.
We called a friend who couldn't get baby out, so she took her up to the vets who managed, but baby had died. We aren't sure what happened, but Venus was found dead later that evening... Im thinking an infection??
Babies are now bottle babies, lets see how this goes. We have only ever supplement fed before as we prefer to leave them with their mums.
Highs and lows alright.
We cant thanks Melissa Thomas enough for being midwife, and then mumma to these beautiful boys while we were away!
