♥ Saying goodbye to Bronson ♥💐

"Thank you for helping me say goodbye to my beautiful boy, Bronson, in the comfort of his home, where he felt safe, loved, and at peace. Giving him one last perfect day filled with walks, cuddles, family, and our sunset ritual means everything to me.

I rescued Bronson in March 2023 after a difficult start to life. He was so scared at first, but it didn’t take long for his gentle, loving nature to shine through. He learned to trust, to play, and to love, and he gave that love so freely to everyone around him...
..He was sweet and patient with my cats, cheeky with his toys, and full of personality, singing along, showing off his favourites, and always asking for belly rubs...
.The way he walked, earned him the nickname "Potitus" - my little b***y in Spanish. He had a special talent for destroying toys, including his Gumby toy, which didn't stand a chance more than once, his Grandma dubbed him "Potitus Gumbinator", a title he wore proudly...
..Despite being diagnosed with lymphoma, Bronson showed incredible strength. Through treatments and hospital stays, he remained happy, gentle, and full of love, always winning over everyone he met.....
..When his cancer returned, I fought for more time with him, but in the end, I made the hardest decision to let him go peacefully, surrounded by love.
.Bronson was only meant to be a foster, but he became my baby boy—my heart. In just three years, he changed my life forever..
..Thank you for your compassion and kindness during such a difficult goodbye. It brought comfort in a moment that felt impossible.Even though he’s gone, the life we shared, the lessons he gave me, and the love he left behind will stay with me forever…"

Thank you Daniela for placing your trust to give Bronson the gentle farewell he deserved ♥

Planting a Living Tribute to Your Beloved Pet

Choose a pot, then choose a place that holds meaning - perhaps where your pet’s water bowl once sat. Plant flowers, herbs, or a small tree in their honour. 🌸

As it grows, so does the quiet reminder of the love you shared. Each time you water it becomes a small act of care, a moment to pause, remember, and feel close to them again.

Grief changes shape over time, but love continues to grow in the spaces they once filled.

🌟❤️ Exciting news! Please join us in welcoming Alex to Hold My Paws 🐾 🌟

This post is slightly (read: many, many months!) late, but we’re so very excited to have the lovely Alex join our team!! Some of you have already met her and will agree that she's not only a fantastic Vet Nurse, but also an amazingly awesome Human Being.

She brings with her over six years of hands-on experience across general practice, exotics, and emergency care, along with a unique background supporting animals in a variety of really special care settings.

What really stands out about Alex is the way she connects with both pets and their people. Her gentle confidence and warmth have a way of bringing comfort and steadiness, especially in emotional or difficult moments.

At Hold My Paws, Alex is already making her mark. She is the caring and familiar face supporting our families beyond the appointment itself - whether that's connecting with our local vet clinics, creating useful resources for pet families or when the time comes, gently returning your pet's ashes to you at home. It's a role that suits her naturally thoughtful and compassionate nature so beautifully, and she feels truly privileged to walk alongside families through their pet’s final chapter.

At home, she’s kept on her toes by her much-loved (and very cheeky!) Springer x Cocker Spaniel, Thomas 🐶✨

We feel very lucky to have Alex as part of the Hold My Paws family, and can’t wait for you to get to know her.

“I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you; but instead I am deeply honoured knowing you spent the rest of your life with me.”
- Camille Marcotte

When we welcome a pet into our lives, somewhere quietly in our hearts - we know that their time with us will never feel long enough. We wish for more walks, more cuddles, more ordinary days together.

What a gift it is to have been their whole world. To have been their safety, their comfort, their family for every chapter of their life.

Their life may feel too short to us, but to them, it was filled with love from beginning to end, because it was spent with you.

🌈 Saying Goodbye to Steve 🐾

Steve was the beloved best friend to Jarrad:

"Laurel and her team at Hold My Paws helped turn the heartbreaking decision of saying goodbye to my best friend (Steve) into one last beautiful memory...
When she came over, Laurel spent so much time asking me about Steve and asking me to share memories. We gave Steve treats, played with him and she even took some last photos together. Then, when it was time, she let me cuddle up with him on my bed (where he used to sleep every night) and watch him peacefully go to sleep one last time.

In the days afterwards, her and Alex sent me texts to check in on me that felt incredibly genuine. When Alex dropped off Steve's ashes a couple of weeks later, she asked to hear stories and see pictures of him. The level of care showed at every step has help me on my journey to start processing my grief, and it was completely unexpected.

As someone who lives alone, words can't express how grateful I am to have had the team at Hold My Paws through this. It's a goodbye that I'll never forget, and thanks to them, I get to remember it as one last moment shared with my favourite little guy.

Thank you Laurel, Alex and Hold My Paws. I'm forever thankful to you."

The Importance of Hydration for Senior Pets 💧

As pets age, they may not drink as much water as their bodies need. However, hydration plays an important role in supporting kidney function, joint comfort, and overall wellbeing.

You can encourage gentle hydration by placing extra water bowls around the home, refreshing water frequently, or adding a small amount of water or low-sodium broth to meals. Some pets are also drawn to the movement of a pet fountain.

These small acts of care can help your pet feel more comfortable and supported throughout their golden years. 🌸

Saying Goodbye to Xena 💛🌿

We recently received this beautiful message from Steph, who said goodbye to her beloved Xena.

"Thank you so much for the amazing support and patience, Laurel. My beautiful Xena was able to go peacefully from the place where she felt the comfiest and safest. Xena usually didn’t like strangers, but she was so calm around Laurel, which immediately told me I could trust her throughout this process.

Hold My Paws is an incredible company, and I can’t recommend them enough. Laurel communicated everything so clearly and compassionately, which made such a difficult experience a little easier to handle." - Steph Parletta

We are so honoured to have been welcomed into Xena's space and trusted with her farewell. When an animal who is wary of strangers settles in your presence, it is one of the most humbling gifts this work can offer. Xena deserved every bit of the peace she found that day.
💛

Thank you, Steph, for entrusting us with Xena's goodbye.

At Hold My Paws, we're here to support you through every step of this journey. Because love is worth remembering, always.

'How a Simple Goodbye Ritual Can Bring Comfort and Meaning'

When it's time to say goodbye to a pet you love, it can be hard to know what to do with yourself in those final moments.

Many families find comfort in creating a small, simple ritual - something that helps mark the significance of the moment and gives the heart a way to process it.

It doesn't need to be complicated. It might look like lighting a candle, reading a short poem, or playing a song they always responded to. It might simply be placing your hand on them and saying thank you for the years, the companionship, and everything in between.

There is no right or wrong way to do this. It's whatever feels meaningful to you and fitting for them.

What matters is that you're present, that the moment is acknowledged, and that the love you shared is honoured in a way that feels like yours.

Our pets give us so much across their lives. A small ritual is one way of saying: I noticed. I'm grateful. And I won't forget. 🌿

Saying Goodbye to Oscar 💛🌿

We recently received this deeply moving message from Caity, who said goodbye to her 14-year-old best friend Oscar, at home, in his bed, surrounded by everyone who loved him:
"A beautiful, peaceful goodbye 🌈 🐾
A few months ago, I made the difficult decision to have my 14-year-old best friend put to sleep. I knew I wanted him at home, in his bed, surrounded by his family. Laurel was a compassionate and supportive presence leading up to this decision, offering genuine understanding and advice during such a painful time.

The experience itself was calm and unhurried. Laurel gave us the space we needed, whilst also gently encouraging us through the tears to hold and cuddle him, ensuring we would have no regrets in this goodbye. This included creating paw prints and taking fur clippings, something I will always treasure. Having worked in a vet clinic myself, I knew what to expect, yet Laurel still exceeded every expectation.

Oscar passed with dignity, peace, and love, exactly as he deserved. Laurel handled all aftercare arrangements, kept me informed, and even checked in afterward to make sure I was coping. I could not have asked for a more compassionate or respectful goodbye. Thank you so much Laurel." - Caity Kropman

We are so honoured to have walked alongside Caity and Oscar in their final chapter together. Fourteen years of unconditional love deserves a goodbye filled with exactly that - and Oscar received every bit of the dignity, peace, and tenderness he was worthy of. Thank you, Caity, for entrusting us with Oscar's farewell.

At Hold My Paws, we're here to support you through every step of this journey. Because love is worth remembering, always.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh

Loving a pet means welcoming a lifetime of small, ordinary miracles — morning greetings, quiet companionship, shared routines, and unconditional love woven into everyday life.

And when the time comes to say goodbye, the depth of our grief reflects the depth of that bond. The heartbreak we feel is not separate from love; it is love, continuing even when our pet is no longer beside us.

Feeling that goodbye is impossibly hard simply means the life you shared was something truly special. A love like that never disappears — it changes shape, becoming memories, stories, and the gentle imprint they leave on your heart forever.

With Gentle Gratitude 🐾💙

“When we think of those companions who travelled by our side down life’s road, let us not say with sadness that they left us behind, but rather say with gentle gratitude that they once were with us.”

Our pets don’t simply walk beside us — they become part of who we are. They shape our days, our routines, and our hearts with quiet devotion and unconditional love. Their pawprints remain in the smallest moments and the deepest places.

While grief may still ache and their absence can feel overwhelming, gratitude gently sits alongside it — gratitude for shared mornings, familiar comforts, and a love that will never fade.

Today, we honour the companions who journeyed with us for a chapter of our lives, and the privilege of having loved and been loved by them. 🤍🐾
