🌱 𝐈𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬?

For some horses, the arrival of lush, rapidly growing pasture can bring noticeable changes. They may become more reactive, unsettled, spooky or simply seem a little different from their usual selves.

This is where Calm Healthy Horses GrazeEzy and SOS can be useful, but they each have a slightly different role.

𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐄𝐄𝐙𝐘

GrazeEzy is designed as a daily mineral supplement for grass affected horses.

It provides magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and other nutritional support to help address some of the mineral imbalances that can occur when horses are grazing lush, rapidly growing pasture.

For horses that are regularly affected by pasture, GrazeEzy can form part of their ongoing nutritional management, alongside appropriate forage and pasture management.

𝐒𝐎𝐒

SOS provides a more concentrated source of magnesium and calcium, along with other nutrients, and is designed for horses that are more noticeably affected by pasture.

It can be used when additional support is needed, with the amount adjusted according to the individual horse and pasture conditions.

𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐁𝐄 𝐅𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑?

Yes. The two products can complement each other because they have different roles.

GrazeEzy provides ongoing daily mineral support, while SOS can provide additional support when a horse is more strongly affected by pasture.

Calm Healthy Horses recommends GrazeEzy and/or SOS depending on the individual horse and the pasture conditions, so not every horse will require both.

And, as always, supplements are only one part of the picture. Pasture, forage, overall diet and management all need to be considered, particularly for horses that are sensitive to grass.

If you notice your horse becoming spooky, reactive, twitchy, unsettled or simply not themselves during periods of lush, rapidly growing pasture, it may be worth looking at what is happening nutritionally rather than simply putting it down to “spring behaviour”.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FROM ELITE EQUINE NUTRITION 💛

After 6½ years, it’s time for us to say goodbye to the Elite Equine Nutrition shop front.

I’ve been sitting here trying to find the right words, because this is so much more than simply closing a shop.

Elite has been such a huge part of our lives. What Mikaela started in 2020, while pregnant with Lukas, grew from a little idea into something that became so much bigger than we ever imagined. Through COVID, moving locations, growing the business and everything that came along the way, it has been quite a journey.

Over the past six and a half years, we’ve welcomed two beautiful babies, Lukas and Oliver, and watched Elite grow and evolve in ways we could never have imagined. I’ve had the absolute privilege of helping so many horses and their owners along the way. Thank you for trusting me with your horses, their nutrition and their wellbeing. Every consultation, conversation over the counter, phone call, message and regular check-in has meant more to me than you probably realise.

We were never just the average feed store.

We wanted Elite to be a place where you could come in, ask questions, talk horses, learn something new and feel genuinely supported. Over the years, we had the pleasure of hosting some amazingly talented professionals and bringing education, knowledge and experience into our little community.

And somewhere along the way, our customers became so much more than customers. You became friends and part of our Elite family.

We were there for the highs and the lows. We celebrated new horses, new foals, improved conditions, competition wins and little milestones. We also supported each other through the difficult times, the horses that weren't doing so well and everything else that comes with life with animals.

I will honestly miss the regular chats and check-ins, not just about your horses, but about your dogs, cats, families, work, holidays and everything else happening in your lives. Those conversations became such a special part of my days.

Running the store has been an incredible experience, and I have truly loved it.

But as many of you know, I’ve continued to struggle with a very compromised back, and over time it has become clear that I simply can’t continue with the physical demands and heavy lifting that come with running a shop front.

So, while saying goodbye to the shop front is incredibly emotional, I’m also looking forward to starting my next chapter.

The good news is that Elite Equine Nutrition is not going away. 💛

A New Chapter for Elite Equine Nutrition 🤎🐴

To our wonderful clients,

After much thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the shopfront doors of Elite Equine Nutrition.

With the rising costs of running a small business in the current economy, we have taken the time to reflect on where we started, what we set out to achieve and, most importantly, our WHY.

Elite Equine Nutrition was never intended to be just another stockfeed store. And we think we can all agree, it never was. 🤎

From the very beginning, Elite was built around something much bigger than selling bags of feed. It was about horse health, nutrition, education, personalised advice and genuinely getting to know our customers and their horses.

Somewhere along the way, the demands of running a shopfront meant more and more of our time was spent selling commercial feed with minimal margins, restocking, cleaning, ordering and managing the day-to-day operations of a physical store.

It became time to take a step back and return to what Elite was created for in the first place.

Our passion has always been horse health, nutrition and helping owners give their horses the very best.

So, we are going back to our roots. And we couldn’t be more excited about it!

With Donna continuing as our Head Nutritionist, closing the shopfront means she will no longer be tied to four walls. Instead, Donna will have the freedom to travel throughout Victoria, working directly with you and your horses, providing personalised nutrition advice and support where it matters most.

So, what does the future of Elite look like?

This isn’t goodbye to Elite Equine Nutrition. It’s goodbye to a shopfront that no longer represents the direction we want to take our business.

To every single person who has walked through our doors, supported our little business, asked for advice, purchased a bag of feed or trusted us with the health of your horse, thank you.

Over the past six years, you have become so much more than customers. You have become part of the Elite family. We have loved getting to know you, your families, your horses, your dogs, your cats and everything in between.

Sometimes you have to close one door to get back to doing what you love.

For some horses, the arrival of lush, green grass can mean a few extra challenges. This is where GrazeEzy & SOS can be useful tools to have on hand.

🌿 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐄𝐳𝐲
GrazeEzy helps your horse better cope with lush, green grass by helping balance the extra potassium and nitrogen that comes with it. It also supports a healthy digestive system and provides magnesium to help keep your horse calm and settled. It’s particularly useful for horses that are prone to being grass affected or where grass intake can’t be fully controlled.

🆘 𝐒𝐎𝐒
SOS can be used alongside GrazeEzy when your horse needs additional support, particularly while you are building up the GrazeEzy. SOS can be fed at the higher recommended rate initially, then gradually reduced once your horse has settled.
