What a sight, just as a drizzel of rain came in the last Basset Hound pack run was off and running yesterday at Capalaba Greyhound track.
This was a great spectacle, a pack of Basset Hounds thundering down to the finish line, much to the delight of the crowd who cheered them on.

Well it seemed like we had the 4 seasons today at the 100m sprint, light drizzel off and on then the sun came out off and on which made it quite hot then the clouds came over cooling it down, then the cycle started over again.
With well over 100 dogs including the Bassets running today it was a very busy day but we got a time on every dog ( that made to the finish line) and a couple of owners running with their dogs as well. The new timing system never missed a dog.
There was some great top speeds as well which surprised a few owners, we are the first club to do this so still learning about the speed gun. This time we took the speeds at the start and found most dogs reach their top speed before the 50m mark then the speed fell away.
What about the Basset pack runs, wasn't it just the best sight watching the Bassets enjoying themselves chasing those plastic bags. There was alot of wagging tails at the end of the run and I'm sure they will be back. Have videos of the Basset pack runs so will post them.
The Greyhound track is still quite soft and still has not fully recovered from the floods so many thanks to the Capalaba Greyhound club for letting so many dogs run on their track.
Thanks to all the helpers today, a busy day.
Another very enjoyable day and I'm sure the dogs would agree as well.

Going to be a great day at the 100m sprint on Saturday.
Just a couple of things to remember. If you have a pedigree dog and you are not a club member and didn't bring a copy of the dogs papers ( the number on the pedigree papers will do) to the last sprint or it is your first time please bring a copy of the dogs papers.
As always we need a couple of helpers on the day, someone to close the gate into the catching area and catchers for people who do not have one.
Otherwise everything is ready to go, looking forward to see the top speeds and times of the dogs.
see you there.

This iggy put in a really good run on Sunday at Wally Tate park.

Here is the Beagle pack run yesterday at Wally Tate park, what a sight and they ran as a pack, well most of them. It was the highlight of the day.

What a fantastic days lure coursing at Wally Tate park today, perfect weather, the field was just in the best condition after all the rain the last couple of months.
The course was a totally new lay out to make the dogs that are lure wise really watch the lure and it worked really well as there were a lot of confused dogs on the first run and on the second run dogs were really watching the lure and stayed on the course much better, not sure where the lure was going to go, so we will put that course away to be used again when dogs get to lure wise.
Great to see some many dogs roll up after all the rain cancelled meetings, even had to fence off under the power pylons for more parking which we will do at every meeting from now on.
Although the course was quite difficult the Greyhound really nailed it, great to watch.
Many thanks to Andrew Toms for running the bike all day doing a great job on the bike, also thanks to all the ladies in the shed for the sign on, always a very busy place and thanks to all the other helpers during the day
Everyone enjoyed the babecue the Beagle club put on for lunch so many thanks to the Beagle club, and the Bealge pack run at the end of the day was the best yet( have a video ,will post it)
The AGM saw some new people take on roles in the club, so thanks for taking on the roles.
Will have to print more Pursuits as a lot of people missed out on their copy, it will go up on the web page next week.
So another great days lure coursing and I bet there are alot of very happy tired dogs tonight.

Well it looks like we will finally get to have a lure course meeting on Sunday. The weather will be fine but cold, thats better than wet, there has been no rain all week so the field should be in perfect condition.
Don't forget to pick up your free club magazine "the Pursuit" in it there will be the top speeds the dogs got up to at the last 100m sprint at Capalaba and there are some surprises.
See you on the field

We were lucky to get the 100m sprint in on the 3rd May with all the rain around in the past few weeks, so here is a few more videos of the 100m sprint due to the meeting not going ahead yesterday.
