**Update: Riders Fuel Grant**

The Adelaide Equestrian Festival is pleased to announce that the 2026 Riders Fuel Grant has received additional support, with a $3,500 contribution from Combined Horse Transport.

This brings the total funding available to $13,500, to be distributed among riders travelling to Adelaide to compete at the 2026 Festival. We extend our sincere thanks to Glen Day of Combined Horse Transport for his generosity and support of our competitors.

Announcement: Riders Fuel Grant 🐴

The Adelaide Equestrian Festival is honoured to announce the introduction of the 2026 Riders Fuel Grant, made possible through the incredible generosity of the Marleston Foundation. 🙌

Following a significant contribution to the Festival in 2025, the Marleston Foundation has this year chosen to directly support competitors by helping offset the considerable costs associated with travel. A total of $10,000 will be distributed among riders competing in the 2026 event.

The grant has been structured to provide scaled support, with riders travelling from Queensland and Western Australia receiving the highest level of assistance in recognition of the greater distances involved.

On behalf of all competitors, we extend our sincere thanks to the Board of the Marleston Foundation for their continued support and this thoughtful initiative, which will make a meaningful difference to riders participating in the Festival. ❤️

📆Save The Date📆

The WEC events for the year have been finalised! We tried to dodge as many clashes as possible. Also fingers crossed the committee wont be too busy this year, we may be able to squeeze in some member-exclusive mini events in between 🤞

Sidenote, check out our website! It got a major facelift and will now stay up to date (and a lot more modernised) so it is actually worth googling us 😂

Thank you again to the lovely Arcadia Images for providing so many stunning club photos to represent our community in every post we make ❤

☀️ ❗️Hot weather tips ❗️☀️

With the ongoing heatwave it is very important to take extra care of your horses and any other pets and animals. Please read the following tips and suggestions to keep your horses healthy and comfortable at all times.

💧Hydration
- Monitore water intake, horses consuming between 20 and 60L of water per day.
- Drinking water has to be clean and fresh.
- Use molasses to sweeten water if your horse is reluctant to drink.
- Add electrolyte supplements to feed daily. During exercise horses can lose up the 15l of sweat, containing critical electrolytes that need to be replaced.
- Use electrolyte pastes to deliver concentrated doses of electrolytes following exercise.

❗️Interestingly, when horses become 10% dehydrated and have low salt concentrations in their blood, they often refuse to drink and require salt and electrolyte supplements to stimulate their thirst.

💧Paddock and Stables
- If your horse is in a paddock, ensure they have adequate shade or shelter.
- Keep rugs and boots as light as possible and at a minimum.
- If your horse is stabled ensure there is adequate airflow. Remove all rugs and boots.
- Access to clean and fresh drinking water at all times.
- Provide your horse with a salt lick in their paddock and/or stable to encourage salt intake.
- Use misters and fans in stables and shelters if available.

💧Exercise
It is important to minimise exercise during hot weather, try working your horse early or late in the day to minimise the risk of a heatstroke.
- Avoid exercising your horse during the hottest time of the day between about 10am-4pm.
- Walk your horse for at least 5-10 minutes following exercise to allow to cool down.
- Hose your horse off with cold water, focusing on high heat areas such as the flank and chest.
- Allow your horse to completely cool down before rugging.
- Use electrolyte pastes to replace electrolytes following exercise.

💧Feeding
- If possible, feed three small meals during the day, instead of one or two big feeds. This prevents excessive overloading of the digestive tract while also minimising the heat of digestion which may increase core body temperature.
- Dampen feeds, especially hay and chaff if possible.
- Consider feeding high fibre mashes such as speedibeet.
- Add daily electrolytes to feed.

Please call us immediately if you have any concerns about your horse.

Stay cool 🥵

Orarapark Finn ⭐️ SOLD ⭐️

Sire: Orarapark Moscato Dam: Orarapark Serina

6yo 15.2H Palomino Stock Horse gelding (eligible to be registered)

Finn is the coolest little dude that will make the most amazing competitive all round dressage, jump, eventing or interschool/adult riding horse. He has a lovely soft mouth, a really nice balanced trot and canter.

He has had a well grounded education which includes being brought up doing trail riding and mustering cattle, road/bush work.

Over the past year he has produced and schooled on the flat with professional dressage rider Sue Walker. He has started leg yield and shoulder in, counter canter and has been out to several clinics, ridden in different arenas gaining exposure to ready him for competition!

Since being here, I have started teaching him to jump and go out the paddocks over XC fences/logs. He had no trouble jumping a ditch and roll tops, Brush fences. He is taking jumping it all in his stride. He would make a quick little showjumper as he has that stock horse turn of foot. He is careful without over jumping.

This horse is a lovely little fella to ride. He is smart and sensible. So much fun to ride! He is generally very quiet, but we are looking for a knowledgeable home to further produce this talented young horse!
