22Q deletion is micro deletion on the 22nd chromosome. It can affect every cell in the body ,the deletion can affect hundreds of genes impacting various bodily systems.Every case is different and may affect somebody mildly -severely.
22Q is the second most common syndrome after Downes Syndrome and yet many people haven’t heard of it, in recent years there has been an increase in raising awareness.
22Q is also known as as VCFS
velo cardio facial syndrome
V= velo (pallet)
C=cardio
F =facial features
S=syndrome
22Q affect 1 in 2000-4000 live births alit of time children are born with it and it goes undiagnosed for years.
14-25% of prople will also be diagnosed with Autism Neurodevelopmental Impairment ,Developmental Delays ,Learning Disability ,Intellectual Disability ,Cognitive Impairment ,Social ,Behavioural and Emotional Disabilities .
Dyspraxia is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects motor skills coordination and affects many parts if the body along with speech .
Intellectual Disability can have a significant impact on cognitive function ,social and practical skills such as language and self care .Living with an ID can be challenging but also rewarding .By breaking down information and tasks into small manageable steps,using clear and simple steps and language using visual cues all help in every day tasks with kits if repetition .Meeting them where they are atand workings with their interests and abilities also make things a little easier.
I have focused on mental health,confidence ,life skills independence supported employment and social impact .BARK N PAWZ is delivering all if it..
Those that know Connor and his story know of his huge progress he continues to make.
Connor doesn’t need ir want pitty he wants and needs Acceptance ,Inclusion be Heard and Seen most of all ENCOURAGEMENT this will all help with his confidence and working towards independence however that may look for him.Life Skills and mental health is whats important .BARK N PAWZ has been the best thing for all if this .
I never thought our chat in the car and my crazy idea would see us doing this 3years on (next month !)
We are so thankful to each and every one of you and all your fur kids we a grateful to all the retail outlets also for stocking our products he always wanted to get into shops me i was abit skeptical at first but hey who would of thought .
Connor loves what he does and YES i work for HIM !!
Connor volunteers every FURSday at the dog refuge in Subi where he plays/walkshis furry friends with his awesome support worker/MATE-and they do deliveries and grab things to eat while they are out
( i get the morning off)
Connor also swims at Beatty Park on a Friday which he lioves even if it freezing , he is so close to nailing freestyle he gives it his all for the 1hour (while i sit back with a coffee and have an hour off i just sit and watch) we do deliveries before and afterwards and hes getting more confident greeting his custyimers and people jyst asking about BARK N PAWZ
He also has speech on Chewz days and lookd forwRd to chatting with his speechie , we do deliveries before and afterwords then abit of food shopping sneaking treats and fuel before heading home.
So with all this going in is the
Making Of One Happy Man.
