STRECH THOSE LEGS!!!
HELP HORSES FEEL OK with having legs held up.
There is a massive amount of horses I see that can't lift their legs up to hip height. Or just hold their legs in farrier positions and be relax for a trim.

I question why is this.
🐎 Are we expecting less of our horses?
🐎 Is the stagnated lives they live lead to inflexible legs and weak core strength.
🐎 Are the horses getting time being relaxed with balancing on 3 legs.
🐎 Are they OK and relaxed with strangers holding their legs in needed positions?
🐎 Do we as horse owners know how to prepare your horses better for farrier?

This was at feed time with my 22yr old.
Yes he is in light riding. But I wouldn't call him strong.
Yes he is relaxed with people.
No he didn't expect it was trim time.
He usually gets dinner here this time of night.
No he wasn't worked beforehand.
Yes he dose know what is needed for feet trimming and is polite enough to be patient.

Its a funny phenomenon that a basic of lifting legs is diminishing. 🤔 💭 🤔 💭
Yes is a funny angle (sorry) I sat my phone down quickly.
😃 A camera man is not in the budget!.

I got chronically ill during in the 2020 competition, with the pandemic in play. Trai and I decided to only do ground work, and buy the brumbies to be started under saddle at a later date. Moving back to QLD. These mares both got qld itch, with that under control, they are both now in work, moving on to being ridden horses. Watch this space.

For all the Goofey Photos that I post of Dusty.
Here is what he shines at.
He has been my lead horse, ponying horses out for years.
He is a calm source of guidance for any young green horse.

Even though he is often pushed out the way in the herd by this mare.
Whenever we are together riding he is bullet proof, confident.
Take note of one ear he listens to my legs and seat. Whilst the other ear watch the horse hd is leading.
Then the last photos he is helping and supporting the chestnut mares first ride back in over a week.

His friendship and trust was one of the hardest relationship I have ever keep showing up to.
But he is one of the most heart warming horses to be around now.

Horses that are relaxed to be saddled;
the body language shows true relaxation.

They are just nonchalant about carrying a saddle. That's how you know they are pain and fear Free in saddling.

You will be super suprised at how many horses at clinics still show subtle signs of tension whist saddling.

Have you observed how your horse feels about saddling recently?

This is what a morning work looks like for my crew.
An insane amount of stress. (Sarcasm)

Maybe it's the colder mornings or the big breaky but everyone needed a snooze whilst waiting their turn.
Beautiful to see.

This mare was one of my most athletic, sound minded mares I ever had the privilege of riding.
She would run an event at her top speed, then quite happily be a plodding pony for my son.

If you ever get the opportunity to feel when a chestnut mare shares her heart. It is inspirational.

⚠️ Warnings
She'll make you earn that privilege.
She'll be different day to day.
She'll require you to search your soul
She'll require you to improve every aspect of your horsewomanship.
Forever in gratitude 🙏 for the chestnut mares.

When you have that ADHD horse that is playful, cheeky, chewing everything and annoying everyone.
Because you are working with another horse.

Yet when is his turn, after his warm up loop wants to just Relax and go to sleep.

I think Dusty expelled all his energy playing.

Wouldn't have him any other way.
