Blacklash Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

ANKC registered breeder and exhibitor of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. We raise, train and socialise our puppies using the Puppy Culture programme.

We breed and exhibit Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in conformation shows. Our litters are carefully planned with health and temperament as top prioritites in our breeding programme. We raise our puppies, regardless of whether they are destined for the show ring or a pet home, to be confident and well-adjusted and to face new challenges with joy and curiosity, not fear. Our puppies are raised using the world renowned "Puppy Culture" rearing and socialisation protocols. We are proud ambassadors and official partners in this programme. We raise and train all our dogs, using positive, rewards based methods and educate others to do the same. We feed and recommend a balanced raw and fresh food diet for optimum health and we educate and support puppy families so they can do this correctly. Homes for our puppies are carefully chosen and potential families undergo a comprehensive screening process so that we can match the right puppy to the right home. We accept expressions of interest all through the year for future litters.

Our beautiful Beatriz had an echocardiogram today to check her heart health.

Thankyou to the LVH for providing the specialist services of visiting vet, Dr Sean Muir.

8 year old Beatriz was withdrawn from our breeding programme 4 years ago after being diagnosed with a grade 2 murmur. Her heart has remained stable in all this time and no medication has been required. She lives an active and full life and is healthy in every other respect.

She has recently developed a cough, so we decided to get a better picture of her heart with an echocardiogram.

I pulled Beatriz out of our breeding programme because of her early diagnosis. She had 1 litter and is the dam of our Louis.

We didn't know something worse was lurking and would rear its ugly head last year - but that is a story for another day. I did have several breeders telling me to "have one more litter" from her. WTF? Seriously. I don't regret my decision. It was right for us and it was right for the breed going forward.

For now, we will wait for the echo report and will work with our regular vet to find the best way forward. ❤️

Dinner at Blacklash is always fresh, whole and functional.

Tonight our Cavaliers are eating BARF patties, ox heart, cottage cheese and roasted sweet potato (served on slow‑feeder mats) — because dogs need real food, not fillers.
