🌧️ We had so much rain last week that all of our dogs turned into little mud monsters!
Quick question for assistance dog handlers:
Your assistance dog (or assistance dog in training) is covered in mud. What do you do before public access?
A) Head into the shops anyway, dogs will be dogs.
B) Wipe off the visible dirt.
C) Bath and blow dry before entering.
D) Skip the shops and train outdoors instead.
Correct answer: C or D.
A clean, well groomed dog is part of maintaining public access standards. Even if the mud doesn’t seem obvious, dirt can be left behind on floors and create a slip hazard for other members of the public.
Of course, assistance dogs are often needed regardless of the weather. On days when you don’t need to head out, enrichment activities at home can be a great way to keep your dog happy and engaged while staying clean.🐕
