Curious About Nosework Also known as Scent Work? Give It a Try with Our 4-Week Foundation Course!

Nosework (or Scent Work) is a fun and enriching activity for your dog—it’s just like what the dogs at the airport do, minus the drugs! Instead, we train dogs to find a specific “target odour.” Eventually, they can even learn to find your keys or phone!

Not sure if it’s for you? That’s okay!
Our 4-week Foundation Course is the perfect place to start. You and your dog will be introduced to the basics of searching and hunting. It might surprise you how many dogs need a bit of help learning to search independently—they’re often used to relying on their humans!

In this course, you’ll also learn to “read” your dog. This means noticing subtle changes in their behaviour when they’re close to finding a hidden item—like food or a favourite toy. We won’t introduce a target odour in this course; that happens in the next step, the Introduction to Odour Course (Clove is usually the first odour we use). Please note: the Building Odour Course will only run if there are enough participants.

Course Details:
• Location: Koo Wee Rup Primary School
• Duration: 4 weeks
• Time: Sunday mornings at 11:15
• Class size: Limited to 5 dogs
• Note: You must attend all sessions—each class builds on the previous one, and make-up sessions aren’t available.
• Payment: Full payment is required upon booking.

We offer three levels of support during the course:
• Basic – Great if you’re just curious.
• Standard & Premium – Ideal if you’re thinking about trialing later. These levels offer more support to help identify and address potential issues early, giving you and your dog the best start.
