Congratulations to these two amazing stars as they completed their Cooperative Handling course.
Summer the Ridgeback started the course fearful of the floors, terrified to go up on the scales, she was suspicious about having things done to her after a traumatic experience when she was younger. Fast forward 6 weeks, she walks in, hops on scales, confidently walks into the centre and she consents to handling all over. This includes preparing for blood draws, ear swabbing, heart and pulse checks and injections. What an awesome outcome for this girl.
Then we have Ash, a super enthusiastic Labrador who struggled to remain still when being handled. He was not worried about it but just too aroused by it. Fast forward six weeks and he too could remain still while performing all sorts of examinations including ear swabs. We got to hear his heart without heavy breathing which was our breakthrough. I could not be prouder of these two dogs and their very dedicated owners!!
