When it comes to deshedding, I believe the best results start with healthy skin and proper coat preparation. That’s why I like to use Iv San Bernard - Australia products and their advised deshed process.

It’s a more structured, skin-first approach that works with the coat, not against it. By focusing on hydration and proper product layering, you’re able to loosen and release undercoat during the bath, instead of forcing it out later with excessive brushing.

This process is built around a 3-step system:

1 - Orange PEK
Hydrates, strengthens and starts loosening undercoat while also breaking down oils in the skin.

2 - Mineral H & SIL Plus
Deep cleans and removes buildup, while adding slip to help allow coat to release.

Dog grooming isn’t cheap and here’s WHY

It took me six months just to learn how to bathe and prep a dog before even picking up a pair of clippers. That’s because washing, drying, brushing, and safely handling an animal is far more complex than people realise. To groom also means to understand animal behaviour and cues, recognising potential health concerns, and finding the balance between patience, firmness and staying in control.

What’s a confident, well-mannered poodle gotta do to get a little apreesh around here??

Confident dogs don’t happen out of luck. It’s consistency, boundaries, structure and building mental fortitude.

A big part of that is how we act around them. A calm, matter-of-fact drop off teaches them there’s nothing to worry about. Fussing or fretting teaches them it’s something to be unsure of.

Getting dogs used to grooming at an early age and keeping sessions close together and consistent, sets your pet up to be relaxed and well-behaved during their haircuts. When they feel secure, grooming isn’t scary - it’s just part of life.
