The Kalil Equine float has had a bit of a makeover!

A huge thank you to Mountain Signs in Mudgee for bringing my vision to life with the new signage. It looks incredible and I’m so proud to finally see it out on the road. But this is about more than just new signage on a float. To me, it represents a milestone. A reflection of how far Kalil Equine has come and everything it has grown into over the past three years.

When Kalil began, the concept was simple – a spelling farm built around a deep appreciation for the privilege of working from the historic Guntawang property. I love seeing horses come in needing a break, then head back into work healthy, happy and full of energy. Over time, opportunities arose to offer more services. Not because I had to, but because these are the things I genuinely love doing.

From preparing yearlings and pouring heart and soul into young horses as they take their first steps into the public eye, to foaling down mares and witnessing those incredible moments of first breaths, first steps and first drinks. From supporting rehabilitation horses and their owners through some of the most challenging and emotional times, to providing everyday care that people trust me with, every horse and every journey means something to me.

Kalil was never built around how many horses I could have or how much money I could make. It has always been about doing something I love, the opportunity to work from this incredible property, to build relationships with trainers, owners and my local community, and to play a small part in each horse’s story and future.

This signage isn’t just promoting a business. It represents my life, my vision and everything I am passionate about. Every day, I feel incredibly lucky to do what I get to do.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their horses and supported Kalil Equine along the way. I wouldn’t be here without you 🫶🏻

Brummagen, trained by Brett Thompson Racing, is certainly enjoying his spell, rugged up in his warm sunflower rug and making the most of the welcome rain as we head into winter 🌻🐴🌧️

The recent rain has been a blessing, freshening up paddocks the cooler weather sets in.

We’re currently caring for over 20 client horses here at Kalil Equine and we are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our wonderful owners. Whether your horse is here for spelling or rehabilitation, thank you for trusting us with their care.

It’s a privilege to do what we love every day, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing clients 💙

A new service is on the way! ✂️

We’ll soon be introducing professional body clipping, with appointments available at our facility to begin with.

To kick things off, we’re fortunate to have Kirralee Martin working alongside us, bringing her experience and an extra set of skilled hands as we launch this service.

As we expand, we’ll also be offering scheduled trips to Dubbo, making it easier for clients to access the service.

At Kalil, it’s about attention to detail, consistency, and taking pride in every horse… turning fluffy winter coats into sleek, polished horses ready to shine.

A big thank you to Kirralee for helping get Kalil started on this journey!

Stay tuned …

With the weather starting to cool down and dry conditions setting in, it’s more important than ever to stay on top of each horse’s individual needs 🌾❄️

At Kalil Equine, no horse is ever just a number. Every horse is managed with a tailored feeding program designed specifically for them, because what works for one doesn’t always work for another.

Our approach is backed by proven results, with horses returning to work looking and performing their best after their time here. Quality spelling isn’t just turnout- it’s careful management, consistency and attention to detail.

We’re incredibly grateful to have returning clients, along with a growing number of new ones trusting us with their horses.

📸 New client horses being weighed, photographed, and settled into their spelling paddocks as the sun came up this morning.

There’s something pretty special about mornings like these 🌅

How special is this 💛

We received this message today and it absolutely made our day…

“Hi! Just wanted to thank you for all your help with Rip’s (Hit the Rim) treatment and rehab. He is sound, back in work and going to pony club camp next week X”

Small world moment for us too- we actually knew Rip from his racing days when he came to Kalil to spell. To have him come back to us later in life after racing for rehab made it that little bit more special.

Rip came to us after going through a colourbond fence with some very serious injuries- deep cuts over the joints in his right knee and abrasions to his left front. It was one of those cases that could have gone either way, and we were incredibly lucky it hadn’t penetrated the joint… but it was only millimetres in it.

The time, care and consistency that goes into these rehab cases creates a bond that’s hard to explain- they really do leave a lasting impression.

To now hear he’s sound, back in work, and heading off to pony club camp with his rider having a blast… that’s what it’s all about.

We truly appreciate messages like this more than words can say. Thank you for trusting us with him 🤍

Breeding season is creeping up quickly… and we’re already starting to plan ahead 🌿

We will be taking a limited number of mares to foal down this season, and we are already very close to being full- with only a handful of spots remaining.

If you’re considering sending a mare to us, please reach out sooner rather than later to secure a place or be added to our list.

We’re also really looking forward to welcoming Dr Louise back in August for consults. She will be available for:
• Gelding concerns
• Mare issues

We’ve had some really great success with clients bringing horses to see Louise- particularly mares that have previously struggled to get in foal, going on to conceive easily last season. It’s been super exciting to see those results and to be able to offer this service to our community.

We already have a few mares booked in with her, and it’s a great opportunity to get organised and give your mares the best start heading into breeding season.

As always, feel free to reach out to chat through your plans, we’re here to help every step of the way.

🏥 Rehab Case • 7 Week Transformation 🏥

This gelding came to us for rehab after we were recommended, which we’re really grateful for. It’s always appreciated when people trust us with cases like this. He had unfortunately got caught up in his stable, doing a fair bit of damage to the outside of his hock. The wound was quite deep and in a spot that can become complicated quickly, being so close to a joint.

From arrival, it was straight into box rest, careful wound management and keeping everything as clean and controlled as possible. Seven weeks on, he’s now started the transition into a small yard, which is a nice step forward for him.

He’s nearly ready to head home, and we’re really pleased with how he’s come along.

A genuine thank you to everyone who continues to recommend Kalil- it’s truly appreciated and it’s what helps small businesses like ours keep going.
