Happy Easter everyone!! We hope that you have a fabulous break with your furry and human loved ones.

This is your friendly annual reminder that dogs have no respect for boxes or foil wrapping, so keep your Easter Eggs well out of reach. Also no Hot Cross Buns for dogs (sultana/raisin toxicity) and please avoid feeding them the delicious fatty bits from the roast - lovely at the time, but potential for pancreatitis later!

If you do need help over the weekend our friends at the Animal Emergency Hospital Launceston are available 24/7 until Tuesday morning. Details are in the link below.

We’re getting lots of questions about the current Calicivirus release. Calicivirus is used to control wild rabbit populations but also affects domestic rabbits if they come into contact with it.

If your rabbits are unvaccinated or their vaccines are out of date, please get in touch to make an appointment. We have plenty of the Filavac vaccine in stock.

This is a link to the NRE factsheet which explains measures that you can take to protect your bunnies 🐰

Treat your rabbits regularly for fleas and ensure the conditions of their living environment do not allow insects to occur: regularly clean enclosures to remove faeces and provide fresh, clean, dry bedding material; remove uneaten food daily; apply insect-proof netting to cages. I know it’s still November, but Christmas is coming! This is your friendly reminder to check your pets’ vaccination status and medication requirements now 😊.

Vets always get even busier in the weeks before Christmas and it can become challenging to fit everyone in.

Did you know that Tasmania has been free of hydatid disease in dogs since 1996?
Although infected dogs rarely show symptoms of being unwell, if passed to humans, the disease can be fatal!

To help us keep hydatid disease out, any dogs entering Tasmania must be treated with a dog worming product containing the active ingredient praziquantel, at a dose of rate of 5mg/kg body weight, within 14 days before entering Tasmania.
