HOME STAY & TRAINING: CECE
Little Cece doing a short recall, followed by a “drop” with an automatic “stay”. It should be noted with Cece that NONE of her training here has been done with food. Cece’s tummy gets easily upset, so I didn’t want to set us back by giving her diarrhoea. Did you know that there are many different ways to train a dog other than using food? There are many different ways to motivate a dog that don’t involve food! There are many different rewards other than food!
Food for thought 🤣🤣

SCENT WORK: Lauren & Remy’s second exercise. Anyone who’s done odour detection with me knows that I’m going to challenge them. This time, there is 1 cup of Mackeral Ziwipeak in one of the boxes as a distraction odour. Their target odour is birch but …. I didn’t put it out! 😬This is what’s called a blank search only Lauren doesn’t know there’s no odour. These searches are important. They test whether or not the dog will lie! They also test the handlers ability to read their dog correctly. The fact is, in real life scenarios, whether it be drugs, explosives, cadaver, fire ants etc - most of our searches are actually blank. A lot of the time we are “clearing” an area. So the big questions are .. Will Remy indicate on the food? Will Remy just choose any box and tell a lie? Will Lauren read his body language and realise there actually isn’t any odour??? 🥁 🥁 🥁

SCENT WORK: Our favourite odour detection duo - Lauren & Remy, were out for a practice session today. One box has Remy’s target odour - birch; another box has a distraction odour (1 cup of Ziwipeak Mackeral & Lamb food). The rest of the boxes are blank. Remy, (and bear in mind he’s a Labrador) is to ignore the distraction odour and indicate on the target odour. Lauren is unaware which box has the target. Not an easy task! Can they do it ???? 🥁

Who; Everyone is welcome 😍

A leisurely 1 hour stroll around Eddie Kornhauser Reserve with a lovely group of people and dogs. All dogs are welcome and you will find that people are very respectful of each other's space to enable everyone to feel at ease and enjoy the experience.

After the walk we will have coffee/brunch at a local cafe..We do ask that only well behaved dogs attend the cafe. 😀

Today we took Maggie back to Burleigh for her second visit. The difference between how she went yesterday compared to today was like chalk and cheese. We changed her equipment and that gave me most amazing control. Good girl Maggie 🐶

We have dedicated over 12 years to helping owners and their pets develop healthy relationships on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW. ​Our trainers all have their Certificate IV in Companian Animal Services with a focus on Dog Training and running classes. ​Combined we have trained thousands of dogs and will continue helping owners with pets.

We are focused on giving you the RIGHT advice built on years of study and experience. We will always be honest!

We recognise that every dog is unique and each owner is equally unique and we are skilled in trouble shooting and problem solving for each dog and owner unit we work with. What works for one dog may not work for another. We do not discriminate against any breeds and work with all dogs big or small. ​We are continually studying to ensure we have the latest and up to date training methods and techniques.
