What a year, what a horse! 🤎

2025 was our gal Pier Gynt Donatella’s first year in the competition arena and didn’t she shine ✨

From her first comp at PRARG qualifying for DJWTS to a successful interstate trip soon thereafter to do well in her 4yo class at DJWTS, off to some local comps in prelim, AAOR Nationals, and finishing with another decent score for 2026 DJWTS 5yo class!

Her work ethic and attitude are second to no other horse I have ridden - she shows up for me every ride, especially when she enters the ring (I swear she knows when she’s being watched and thrives on it!)

Grateful is an understatement to:
▪️Tim and Mum for supporting my ridiculously time consuming and $$ hobby playing dressage…
▪️Harvey for his guidance every step of the way with this exciting journey - a good coach is worth their weight in gold and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a couple of crackers!
▪️Tamicca for her care and support of me and Deirdre - how good is having a cheerleader to motivate who is also such a great horsewoman!
▪️Kane for his care and expertise keeping the ratbag Princess comfortable and correct in her feet
▪️Narelle Stubbs for guiding me with Deirdre’s body and keeping us on track
▪️Leonie for keeping her so happily homed, even in a bloody cyclone!
▪️Dr Christine Perry at TRH vet for keeping Deirdre healthy
▪️Mel Waller for keeping us set in County Saddles (juggling saddles while Deirdre grows!)
▪️Clare at A Bit Unique finding our girl the perfect bit to suit her
▪️All of you who cheer me on and are kind at shows, at comps etc - kindness is massive and I hope I give back what I receive, as I feel alot of support 🥰
And lastly, Benchmark Horse Feeds - Deirdre looks and feels incredible on her diet on Benchmark Invest and Perfect Mash 🪣

What a long post. I didn’t want to sound like a TED talk, but I really want everyone involved in my very insignificant journey a shout out - I am so very appreciative, and I know how lucky I am to get to do what I do!

Last pony done and that’s a wrap for 2025!

Off on a roadtrip to Vic from New Years Day and back mid-Jan - bookings for my SE Qld crew open from about 15th.

Vic crew - I’ll be around Geelong / West Gippy / Castlemaine if anyone would like their ponies to have bodywork while I’m down ☺️🐴

Don’t party too hard tomorrow (or do!) and remember that every day is a bloody good day to be alive and hug your ponies ✨🐴

Our Deirdre has been an absolute rockstar for me this year, so what better way to spend her vacation relaxing than her first visit to the beach!

As a massive fan of being impatient and pawing when tied up, splashing the water for over an hour with the added bonus of splashing me made her day!

Harvey Besley owner & operator of Hampton Park Equestrian is a professional dressage rider/ trainer and coach based in Beaudesert QLD.

Successfully competing at a state and national level, Harvey trains and campaigns a range of horses of levels from young horse through to FEI.

Harvey enjoys and caters coaching riders of all levels, putting an emphasis on riders understanding the training scale and giving them confidence to enjoy and train their own horses.

A lovely way to wrap up a successful first competition year for Deirdre and me! Dressage Queensland Awards night was fun and an honour to be nominated for finalist of Qld 4yo horses.

Her second ever competition was DJWTS 4yo class in March this year and she hasn’t missed a beat since!
What a cracking little horse I get to love and ride and I’m so grateful that Mum and Tim share this fun journey with me.

We finished the year on a high with a nice qualifying score for the 5yo class at 2026 DJWTS - we are now getting stronger and loving the training and the journey.

Thanks always to Harvey for guiding me week in week out, keeping me chipping away at my goals and Tamicca for being right by his side helping me, supporting me all the way and the care they both give Deirdre when she travels or stays with the Hampton Park team is second to none.

Benchmark Horse Feeds keeps her looking and feeling incredible and I love working for a company I genuinely love and believe in.

And just in case you didn’t notice - I adore this horse. From the first time I laid eyes on her as a scraggly rising 3yo I knew I had to have her. She has helped me through so much and it’s just the beginning!✨
