Project Meow Geelong

Project Meow Geelong Compassionate cat desexing, kitten support and prevention-focused community pathways helping cats and the people who care for them across Greater Geelong.

Project Meow Geelong is a community-based cat welfare initiative focused on preventing suffering before situations reach crisis point. Through compassionate desexing support, kitten pathways and community outreach, we help protect cats, kittens and the people caring for them across Greater Geelong. HOW WE HELP
Cat Desexing Support

We provide low-cost, partially supported and flexible desexing pat

hways to help reduce unintended litters and improve long-term welfare outcomes for cats in our community. Kitten Club

Kitten Club supports mother cats and kittens through safe, compassionate pathways focused on protection, stability and prevention. Support may include nursery care, desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, parasite treatment, rescue support and safe homing pathways where appropriate. Our goal is to ensure kittens are protected, properly supported and safely placed before entering new homes. Community-Based Support

Project Meow is not a public shelter or veterinary clinic. We work alongside local vets, rescue groups and community partners to help create safe, realistic pathways for cats and families needing support. Every situation is different, and we aim to meet people with compassion, honesty and practical support wherever possible. OUR PROMISE

100% of funds raised through donations, fundraising and community support go directly toward veterinary care and feline welfare programs. Every cat desexed helps prevent future suffering, reduces pressure on shelters and rescues, and creates kinder outcomes for cats across our region.

Whiskers Wish Wednesday
Prevention is compassion in action.

Can you spare five bucks? About the cost of that extra coffee at morning tea or the afternoon pick-me-up.

Pop it in the Whiskers Wish fund, give yourself a little smile, and know you've helped create a better future for cats.

No speeches. No guilt. Just lots of people doing one small thing that adds up to something really special.

Help build a healthier, safer cat community.

We are the Geelong Cats, after all! 💙🤍

Everyone please stand by… the party prince has arrived!

Malachite is pure kitten energy wrapped up in tabby stripes, confidence, and an enormous personality. One minute he’s launching himself across cat towers like a tiny furry superhero, the next he’s curled up in your lap purring like life is one long luxury spa retreat.

This little guy has absolutely thrived in the nursery environment. He adores his kitten crew, welcomes every new floofy friend like they’re a long-lost companion, and approaches life with open paws and a very open heart.

If there’s a toy involved — especially pom poms, sparkly things, or anything he can dramatically “hunt” — Malachite is all in. Expect enthusiastic zoomies, theatrical growling, and complete commitment to the performance.

And dogs? Of course he was the first brave little soul to investigate his foster dog friends. Bold but sweet is very much his brand.

Malachite is one of those rare kittens who somehow brings both chaos and calm. His zoomies are Olympic-level spectacular, but when the excitement winds down, he transforms into an elite cuddle professional and future zen master.

Because he’s such a social and active boy, Malachite really needs a home that embraces his zest for life. A playful feline friend would be ideal — someone to wrestle, chase, zoom, and grow alongside. He would also thrive with humans who are home often, as being left alone for long periods would make him feel quite lonely. His future family will need to appreciate both sides of him: equal parts affectionate cuddle bug and tiny goblin athlete.

Malachite would love a home with:
- A playful feline companion
- Humans who are around often
- Plenty of enrichment, toys, climbing opportunities, and stimulation
- Children old enough to respectfully interact with kittens

A secure indoor-only home is essential for this adventurous little guy. His curiosity is enormous and while his heart says “fearless explorer,” we’d much rather keep all nine lives intact. A safe cat enclosure or catio attached to the home would truly be his dream — somewhere to burn off his turbo-kitten energy before returning inside for snacks, naps, and aggressive snuggling.

After thriving in a nursery full of friends, toys, and adventure, Malachite is now ready for a kingdom of his own to rule… preferably from the top of a cat tower before dramatically flinging himself onto the couch beside you.

He’s everyone’s best friend. And honestly? He knows it.

Malachite is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.

Hey to all our followers, supporters, and scrolling hearts.

Having experienced homelessness this hits my heart hard.

It breaks me to see homelessness becoming part of our normal. It remains a huge problem, and one that grows bigger every day. A problem where we should be seeing improvement.

I read these posts and I feel the cold, the fear, the helplessness, the desperation, and the love these people have for their pets. That love, the bond, is a quality in a human that deserves respect, compassion, and support.

If you can help Pets Of The Homeless Australia, please do.

Keeping people and their pets together, fed, and cared for gives many the strength to face the next day — and for some, the next hour.

Homelessness is hard. It is cruel. It is just brutal.

Tonight, as you dish up a warm meal, fed your beloved pets, as you climb into a warm bed & climb out of it feeling rested the next day, or as you go about your day feeling the cold winter air on your face, please spare a genuine thought for those who don’t have the security of a place to call home.

And please remember that for many people experiencing homelessness, their pet is not “just an animal.” They are family, comfort, safety, purpose, and often the reason they keep going.

If you can help, please do.
Every act of kindness matters. 🩷Lisa

Kitten proof. Not bulletproof.

Desexing may help reduce roaming, but danger still lives outside your home — and sadly, sometimes right in your own front yard.

The good news? Creating a safe outdoor space is easier than many people think.
Cats love being home with the people they love.

When rescue groups need food, litter, treats, bedding and essential supplies, there is often one organisation quietly working quietly behind the scenes to help.

That organisation is Animal Rescue Cooperative

Recently, Project Meow received an incredible donation of food and supplies thanks to ARC and their amazing partners. Mouths have been fed and tummies are full.

Every bag of food helps fill hungry tummies. Every donation means we can direct more of our fundraising towards desexing, veterinary care and helping cats across Geelong.

To the volunteers who collect, sort, store and distribute these donations, thank you. You make a real difference to rescue groups like ours every day. 💛

On our waitlist? Sit tight!

Well... that escalated quickly.

Our recent $50 desexing event "Festival of Hormones" booked out faster than a Taylor Swift concert! Since then, our waitlist has absolutely exploded.

Firstly, thank you Geelong !

The response has shown us just how many people in our community want to do the right thing for their cats but need a little financial help to get there.

Right now, we're taking a few days to work through our next move.
The next round won't likely be $50, BUT we're working hard to make sure it still delivers exceptional value and helps as many cats as possible.

If we can make this work the way we're hoping, it will be MEOWINGLY amazing for cat welfare, preventing unwanted litters and saving lives.

If you're already on the waitlist, you don't need to fill in another form, so please just sit tight. We're working as quickly as we can and will update everyone as soon as details are finalised.

Not on the waitlist yet? Your link awaits below
Each cat needing assistance requires their own application form.

🧡 AHOY! THE SHIP HAS SAILED! 🚢

💜The Geelong Festival of Hormones is officially FULLY BOOKED💜

Thanks to a grant, we were able to fund two of our three event days. The third day is happening thanks to the incredible team at The Vet Project, who have not only donated their skills and time but have also been fundraising to make magic wherever they go! See the link below!

A huge thank you also to Norlane Community Centre, one of our favorite hosts and supporters of community cat welfare.

The spots disappeared faster than a tom cat discovering a dancing queen! 😹
🩷 60 cats. 3 days. Countless kittens prevented.
