If you have a brachycephalic breed such as a French Bulldog, English Bulldog, Pug, Boston Terrier or similar breed, you may have noticed signs like noisy breathing, snoring, exercise intolerance or struggling in warm weather.
These can be signs of Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a condition caused by the shape of the airways in some flat-faced dogs.
🏥 What is a BOAS procedure?
BOAS surgery aims to improve airflow and make breathing easier. Depending on your pet’s individual anatomy, this may involve widening the nostrils and/or shortening an elongated soft palate. Every patient is assessed individually, as not every dog requires the same procedure.

Improving your dog’s airway can help them breathe more comfortably, exercise more safely and cope better with everyday activities and warmer weather.
It’s important to remember that snoring and noisy breathing aren't necessarily “normal” just because your dog is a flat-faced breed.
