Too cute not to share, ducks doing what ducks should do.

Our ducks and geese have access to plenty of water, including the dams, where they can swim, splash, forage, preen and do all the wonderfully messy things waterfowl naturally love to do and SHOULD be able to do- go explore those dams baby.

We believe enrichment is just as important as food and shelter. Being able to swim, forage, explore, socialise and spend their days doing what comes naturally to them is a big part of the way we want to raise our birds, yes this opens up risk of being open to prey etc but ultimately if that is the way it goes, it’s awful but we can be at peace knowing they’ve done what is natural to them and lived a good life.
We do our very best, plenty of protective foliage and places to hide, plus the roosters, geese, Guinea fowl and turkey toms are all awesome alarm systems to let everyone know to take cover if need be.

I’ve left the natural audio of this video because the joy it brought to us to see them so happy and hearing their splashes is just the best that we want you to hear it too.

These birds are just a little fun to us, we don’t take breeding them seriously, we’ve actually never bothered to breed them at all, but this year we’d like to because they’re just too cute. We just love seeing them on the dams, there’s just something about it.

We have 6 little poults who we aren’t keeping for ourselves (I may get in a bit of trouble if I kept 15 poults🥴)
These little sweeties are super cute, make the cutest little peeps and will make wonderful pets.

A little hatching magic of this sweet little maran chick 🐣🤎

Fun fact: we actually bag our eggs so we know exactly which egg belongs to which breeding group. That way, when these little fluff balls arrive, we know exactly who they belong to!
you can see in this video olive eggs are bagged and we’ve left the marans out so there’s no confusion on who’s who! 🥚🐥✨
