Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New to everyone. With the start of the new year, I have made a change to the business. We shall now be known as Aunty Ash's Dog Sitting Services. It was the direction I originally wanted to go, but after waiting 13 months, I have finally had Council approval to run this business at our place. So, should you be going away for a few days or longer, I am your alternative to using a kennel. Your dog will be treated as a member of our family. I get you to provide your furbabies food, as you know best what they eat and it adds one constant to being away from home. They will get full acess to our house, shady verandah and large inclosed yard; with a daily walk of about 1.5 hours each day. I can only take 3 dogs at any one time, so places can fill up quick. I have 3 dogs of my own, so your furbaby will have plenty of company.

Hi All, just an update on Barney. for those who are interested. I picked up Barney on Friday afternoon from the vet. As you can see, he is doing well. He is on small feeds throughout the day and the same for water, as he regains his gag reflex, and he can't be exercised for 2 weeks, which is going to be the hardest. But he is going strong. Thankyou all for your kind thoughts.

Tick paralysis and poisoning symptoms, which will start to show within 72 hours of the tick attaching, typically include:

Heavy breathing (panting, noisy breathing and possibly grunting),
Coughing,
Loss of gagging reflex (stick fingers down their throat),
Vomiting,
Heavy salivation,
Wobbly legs (especially the back legs – dogs tend to sit but not stand),
Collapse.

If you suspect your pet has tick poisoning, act immediately by calling your nearest emergency veterinary clinic.

With my dog Barney, I picked up on the fact that he was panting at times when he normally wouldn't be, like after periods of inactivity. He wasn't as agile as he would normally be. Jumping in the back of the ute, he would normally spring in but he started to think about it and just clear the distance he would clear with ease. You know your fur baby, be vigilant. Check them every time they are out for a walk. Good luck. πŸ•πŸΎπŸ•πŸΎβ™₯️ Keep in mind, people can be affected as well.

Just a timely reminder to all the fur parents I know, to make sure you regularly treat your fur babies for paralysis ticks. It's going to be an extremely bad season for them. If you use Bravecto's 6 month treatment, they are now advising you to use it every 4 months this summer. I had to take my boy Barney to the vet yesterday (5 & 1/2 yr old male) for two paralysis ticks we pulled off him. It's still a waiting game for him, but we believe we caught it early. Barney was coming to the end of his four months since we had Bravecto spotted him. I have also heard of 8 other dogs in the area (and a couple of horses) that haven't survived paralysis ticks so far. So I just wanted to bring this to your attention, so you don't have to go through the heart ache or the vet expense. Be vigilant.
