Ever wondered what dental looks like for your dog? ๐ชฅ
Rhonda is a 6yr old Standard Poodle who came in today for a dental procedure.
This is done under a general anaesthetic.
Rhonda had an initial pre-anaesthetic health check with Dr. Banjo and Nurse Leiha and a pre-anaesthetic blood test to make sure it was safe to proceed with a general anaesthetic.
Once everything was clear, dental x-rays were done to check for any abnormalities that could be causing teeth to be diseased and therefore requiring extractions.
This was followed by teeth having deposits of calculus cracked off, followed by an ultrasonic scaler to clean off the residual bacteria on the surface of the teeth below the gum lines.
Then a special toothpaste is applied to remove any small abrasions caused by the scaler.
Her owner did the right thing by booking Rhonda in for a dental. If her dental disease progressed, it could have lead to tooth extractions and a more complicated dental procedure.
Rhonda is a member of our best mates program so her owner didn't have to pay for today's dental ๐ถ
