Thor presented to the clinic this morning after eating a breakfast of rat bait! 🐀

Rat bait is harmful to pets because it contains toxic chemicals designed to kill rodents. ☠️ If ingested by pets, it can cause internal bleeding, organ damage, and even death. Additionally, your pets might be attracted to the taste or smell of the bait, making accidental ingestion more likely!

If your pet has ingested rat bait, it's crucial to seek immediate veterinary attention. 🏥 Even if your pet seems fine initially, the poison in rat bait can cause serious harm over time. Your vet may induce vomiting to remove any remaining bait from your dog's stomach and administer treatments to counteract the effects of the poison. 🤮
Prompt action can significantly increase the chances of a positive outcome. 🐾🤍

🦷🤎FRANKIE🤎🦷

Frankie the English bulldog presented to Dr Mervin with reflux, snoring, low energy, excessive sleeping and disinterest in food.

After a consult with Dr. Mervin, it was determined that Frankie was eligible for a 5/5 BOAS surgery. This surgery entailed:

- Shortening of Frankie’s soft palate.
- Widening Frankie’s naires.
- Removing Frankie’s tonsils (this is only done if necessary!)
- Removing Frankie’s laryngeal saccules.

This is Kiara. Kiara presented to pet ED after inhaling a bag of Allen’s Red Frogs. After some fluids, blood tests and TLC from our hospital team, Kiara is doing better and came in today for another blood test. It’s been a ribbet-ing experience for Kiara the Collie🐸🐾

Our team at Orana have never related to something so much before! We have see a recent increase in abuse and lack of respect from the general public.

We feel financial pressure too, we’re not in it for the money, we are trying to keep our doors open 24/7 for your pets. We are the only after hours clinic in the region. Place the back of your hand on the ground, if you are unable to keep it there for 10 seconds, THE SURFACE IS TOO HOT FOR YOUR POOCH TO WALK ON! 🔥☀️

Walking your pet early mornings or late evening, once the pavement has cooled, may make the difference between blistered, badly burnt paw pads instead of a happy walk! 🦮🐾

Using paw conditioner/paw wax can keep paws healthy and also protect it, remember to reapply and avoid extreme weather. 🐾🧴
