Warm sunshine today so all piggies on the lawn. I put two quiet older lonely ladies together and it was as if they had been best buddies forever, grooming each other and snoozing side by side.. awwwww

Almost at the end of a wonderful three week holiday in Fiji and made it to the country’s only dog sanctuary - in a fairly remote setting about an hour north of Nadi. Seeing the lack of care for the many stray dogs here has been heartbreaking and the Brisbane Cavy Cave will be starting a regular donation toward the $5000 monthly food bill for the 300+ dogs the small team of dedicated volunteers have saved from extreme neglect or cruelty.

I have been boarding these delightful little pets for eleven years and there have been minimal holidays for me during that time. That has been my choice - I love caring for Guinea pigs and intend to keep doing so! And if you don’t have kids you’d have to be mad to go away during school holidays, right? However! I have made it to ten years at (other) work this year and with long service leave coming my way, we have a few trips planned so big heads up! I’m not available for June school holidays and also a few other dates here and there.. so some of my regulars may get a shock when they contact me to book and I can’t help.. BUT! I know an amazing animal loving lady Hayley who is completing her vet nurse training and takes boarders too.. the funds go back into her rescue piggies and she lives Brisbane Southside. Her page is Rudy’s Rodent Refuge. So as the year rushes by, maybe you could start thinking about your boarding requirements and between Hayley and myself I’m sure we can get all your piggies safely tucked away for the holidays. I previously advertised that the shelter would be open this weekend but due to unexpected events we now won't be opening until Sunday 23rd Feb when we'll be holding a MONSTER GARAGE SALE!!

It's been three months since our last Garage Sale and our bank account is looking a little sad so we're hoping for a good turnout!

We remain available for contactless pickup for hay, shelter mix, pellets and other products.

Dear old Franklin.. he has been coming here for years and now he must be eight or so.. sadly his back legs have just about gone on him and his owners and I know that this is going to be his last visit.. breaks my heart. He’s being kept very comfortable on pain relief medication and still has a very healthy appetite and a bit of sass. Lots of treats for little Frankie.
