Young Feroz Freya has come to spend the week with me for a little training. She had been pulling on her lead when her parents walk her, and she has been displaying reactivity. Yesterday I spent my day getting reacquainted with her, and she showed me what obedience she knew, which was very good. I showed her around the farm and walking through a variety of different animals and establishing a few rules. This morning we went for a drive to town and looked around the markets. As soon as we got out of our car, she was greeted by a friendly man and his dog. She managed this well, we explained to the friendly man that she doesn't want to meet his dog and they went on their way. We were next greeted by a fellow Malinois owner who ran down the road to us, we explained that Freya doesn't want pats and she sat calmly and waited. We continued on our way and she was barked at by some more friendly dogs, which she did go to react to, but she listened to her correction word which made me so proud as I never had to say no to her:-). I looked at stalls, while she sat nicely and patiently beside me, which I gave her lots of treats for being such a good girl. We then walked past the little nosey fluffy dog, which Freya completely ignored, as fluffy reached over trying to sniff her. She was barked at again by another dog, she was so so good, she trotted beside me like a champion:-). Then we had a sneaky motorbike whizz past, Freya went to react and immediately when she heard her correction word she turned and straight back to her heel position. She is so so smart.
