Wow way to go Feroz Sabre and Paul Zubic from Summerland Dog Training ... Paul and Sabre are attemping a verified first, tracking 10,000.00 meters. That is 10 km. Here Paul & Sabre attempt a 5km track on their way to 10km. What Paul refers to as a fail in their first attempt in completing 5000m, I see as a huge milestone and requires a big congratulations, they actually did more than anyone else, by successfully tracking 4000 metres , 4km. I headed to Google to do some fact checking and it told me that 300m is considered long distance and 900m is considered intense. How impressive is this team. I know they will make the distance as they are a very solid team and as it appears nothing is going to stop them.

Day 3 of working with Freya. We are replacing reactivity, lead lunging and pulling for this. Today Freya went leaps and bounds forward, she is on the farm with me completely off lead now and very obedient. She ignored the nosey goats, the cat, the milking cows, boisterous pigs. So I heard Freya's mum say she would like to do some tracking. So Freya, Maze and us packed up and went to the park in town for a spot of tracking. Freya was awesome, we did a bit of off leash work, then she tried her very first track which she was an absolute natural. When we finished we met Rolly and his gorgeous 12 year old Staffy named Blue, who also put her nose down on a track for the first time and did an excellent job. Then Freya and I did a little work on her dog reactivity with the help of Blue. Freya did brilliantly. This was followed by a walk through town, where again Freya strutted like a champion, then it was off to the pub for lunch. There was a little scruffy dog at the table near us who caused no bother at all. Freya and Maze behaved beautifully. Blue did get treats also for her great help:-)

Young Feroz Freya has come to spend the week with me for a little training. She had been pulling on her lead when her parents walk her, and she has been displaying reactivity. Yesterday I spent my day getting reacquainted with her, and she showed me what obedience she knew, which was very good. I showed her around the farm and walking through a variety of different animals and establishing a few rules. This morning we went for a drive to town and looked around the markets. As soon as we got out of our car, she was greeted by a friendly man and his dog. She managed this well, we explained to the friendly man that she doesn't want to meet his dog and they went on their way. We were next greeted by a fellow Malinois owner who ran down the road to us, we explained that Freya doesn't want pats and she sat calmly and waited. We continued on our way and she was barked at by some more friendly dogs, which she did go to react to, but she listened to her correction word which made me so proud as I never had to say no to her:-). I looked at stalls, while she sat nicely and patiently beside me, which I gave her lots of treats for being such a good girl. We then walked past the little nosey fluffy dog, which Freya completely ignored, as fluffy reached over trying to sniff her. She was barked at again by another dog, she was so so good, she trotted beside me like a champion:-). Then we had a sneaky motorbike whizz past, Freya went to react and immediately when she heard her correction word she turned and straight back to her heel position. She is so so smart.
