An Update from Play and Stay Pet Care 🐾⛽

​As many of you have seen at the bowser lately, fuel prices across the Brisbane and Logan areas have reached some record-breaking levels. Because Play and Stay Pet Care is a fully mobile service, these costs significantly impact my daily operations.
​To ensure I can continue providing the high-standard, reliable care your pets deserve, I am implementing a updated Travel & Fuel Strategy effective immediately:

​✅ Zone 1 (Within 10km of Shailer Park): No change! Standard rates still apply.
✅ Zone 2 & 3 (10km+): A modest fuel levy or travel surcharge will now be applied to cover the logistics of reaching your home.
✅ Long Distance & Overnights: Quotes will be tailored to include a travel levy based on the total distance.

​Why the change?
By making these small adjustments, I can keep my business sustainable and keep my car on the road to reach your pets—whether they are in Shailer Park area, or beyond!

​Current bookings will be honored at their quoted rates where possible, or I will reach out to you directly to discuss any necessary adjustments.

If you think 10 minutes of focus is hard for a human, try it for a high-energy dog! 🐾✨

​Following on from the Egg Carton challenge, this 9-minute deep dive shows the Towel Roll Technique in action. While most people assume 'energy' is something you only burn with your legs, my studies in Dog Psychology and Behavior prove that true exhaustion happens in the brain. 🧠💨

​By layering rewards throughout the towel, I'm creating what we call a 'Sustained Cognitive Load.' 👃🔍 Unlike a walk—where dogs often go on 'autopilot'—this activity requires constant problem-solving and olfactory engagement.

​Notice how Bentley's focus doesn't waver? Even though there are sounds outside, he immediately returns to the task instead of getting distracted. That’s the power of the nose! By the time they reach the center of the 'burrito,' his cortisol levels have dropped, leading to a much deeper, more satisfied mental exhaustion than any 5km run could provide. 😴💤

Most people think a high-energy dog just needs a longer walk, but did you know that 15 minutes of targeted mental stimulation can be as exhausting as an hour-long stroll? 🧠💨
​As part of my current studies in Dog Psychology and Behavior, I’ve been focusing on 'Cognitive Loading'—using DIY puzzles like these to engage a dog’s natural olfactory (scenting) instincts. 👃✨

​In this video, you can see Willow's unique problem-solving style in action as she works out how to get the treats!

By the end of a session like this, their cortisol levels drop and they are much more settled and satisfied than they would be after just a walk. That’s the Play and Stay difference! 🏠🐕‍🦺
