🚨 Tyre Safety Check – Don’t Risk It! 🚨
When it comes to trailers and horse floats, your tyres are one of the most important (and most overlooked) safety items. Here’s what you need to know:
🔍 What to Look Out For:
• Tread Wear: Like in the first photo, bald or unevenly worn tyres are unsafe and can blow out under load.
• Cracks & Dry Rot: The sidewall cracks shown in the second and third photos are a clear sign the tyre is aged and needs replacing.
• Tyre Age: You can read the date code on the side of the tyre (example: 0607 = made in the 6th week of 2007). Even if the tread looks okay, tyres over 10 years old should be replaced.
📏 Tyre Pressure Matters:
Always keep your trailer tyres inflated correctly. For most trailer tyres, 45psi is recommended. Low pressure = heat build-up = blowouts.
💡 Tip: Check your tyres before every trip. A quick look now can prevent a costly roadside breakdown (or worse) later.
👉 If your tyres look like any of these, it’s time for a replacement. Stay safe, protect your cargo, and make sure your trailer is roadworthy.
